Liars are not detected on radars. They are not found until evidence is found or they confess to their lies. Being accused or accusing someone falsely could damage not only the relationship but the trust. Many were guilty of accusing others falsely. It was known that Mara definitely doesn't accuse anyone of being a liar.
Cheryl Blossomhad been arrested during Chemistry the other day, claiming she was "guilty". Mara had later found out that she was guilty of knowing that Jason had not died on July 4th. As it turns out, Jason had died a week after July 4th, gunshot wound to his head.
As confusing as it was, Mara couldn't help but feel bitter. Cheryl had lied to Mara and Mara didn't like being lied to. Who did?
Lying means losing trust, and trust was the foundation of any relationship. If you didn't trust somebody, you have no relationship. So what was her relationship with Cheryl? It couldn't be finished. There was too much history and too much pain for it to be over.
Mara couldn't wrap her head around it — Cheryl, one of her best friends, lied to her? And Reggie — sure, he was pretty okay around her now. But what about the incident that Veronica Lodge recently told her about? The fight against both Jughead and Archie. Hadn't Reggie promised no to mess with anyone? Whatever happened to that?
But when Betty Cooper came up to her with an apologetic look on her face, Mara scowled. She didn't want to deal with her jealousy. It wasn't until she admitted that she wanted Mara to come forward about a certain touchy subject that Maras' scowl disappeared. She'd agreed to what Betty wanted her to do, though not very happily.
Which explains why she's in a classroom full of girls who are ready to tell their stories about how they were used for game based in the boys locker room.
Veronica Lodge strutted into the room, looking unhappy with something. "Let me guess, Chuck?" Mara questioned, an eyebrow raised. She was leaning back, feet on a desk, as Betty sent Veronica an innocent smile. "This story is bigger than we thought. I started asking around, to see if what happened to you happened to anyone else, and if anyone would go on record."
Ethel looked up at Betty. "I will. One hundred percent."
"Okay," Betty reassured. Mara glanced at Betty suspiciously. "It's five guys on the football team. Chuck and his posse," Ethel continued. "Ethel was about to tell us," Betty informed Veronica.
"One day last year, Chuck and I talked in the library for 10 minutes," Ethel reminisced. "I helped him with a Pre-Cal problem, and nothing happened. But the next day, he- He started telling people that I let him do stuff to me. Like, sex stuff. And then he or one of his goons, wrote, 'sloppy seconds' on my locker."
