Laven Aru Kythe
When I first opened my eyes, it was dark and uncomfortable. Strangely it was also a familiar feeling, a feeling that a part of me belonged in this place. Raising myself upwards I sat in a more comfortable position, glancing around I notice more creatures like....me.
They were more matured creatures, full grown with hollow red eyes and a dark cloak covering half of their body. They kept a certain distance apart from me, however at that time I didn't pay much attention to that fact. Despite that I notice a figure hovering over me.
It was a tall, lean, and giant figure.
The figure's face was covered and the first impression I received from him wasn't friendly nor was it threatening. Even I didn't understand what I felt at that time but I knew that this figure was different.
Very different.
Lowering downwards, the figure reached out and waited for my response. Hesitantly I glanced around: my mind couldn't comprehend all these emotions and thoughts. I felt uneasy and "difficult", nothing seemed right.
But the figure patiently waited. He just held out his hand.
Taking a small breath I slowly reached out and held onto him. My very first thought was,
It's cold.
His hand wasn't in the very least comforting: it was bony, hard, and thin. It lacked warmth and he wasn't very lenient on his grip. He tugged me along as the creatures continued giving us strange looks. Despite everything, he never gave me looks.
He would always face forward, In his eyes it was hollow like them, but he would always look straight forward. He never looked back.
I wanted to catch up. I quickened my pace so that I could catch up to him. And as naive as I was, a thought passed through me. "I'm going to stand as an equal with this person."
Squeezing his hand I walked with this grim creature, before realizing how big it was compared to mine.
Gradually I was taught many truths. How in fact, the creatures are grim reapers and that I and the man were also one. Soon I also began to realize I was different. Abnormal, because unlike everyone I didn't fit in. At least a part of me didn't.
Everyone could blend into their part of the world, but I couldn't. I was half of a grim and part of another. That fact put me in a state of uneasiness, I wasn't afraid but I'm lying if I said I accept it. Quite ironic that a grim reaper can't decide his own fate.
"Laven!"
Heeding the voice I turned quickly and nodded at the sight. "Lucar? " I questioned as the man hastily walked over.
"You're late. I thought you were old enough to handle being on time, Laven." Of course. Add in a few comments, Why not? Leaning besides me Lucar looked straight ahead at the scenery, not like there was anything to appreciate. I mean it's hell, literally. Don't expect too much.
"Sorry, sir." I replied before leaning against the steel barrier as well.
Heaving out a sigh, Lucar rubbed my head as if I was still a child. Picking up my right hand I brushed off the cold fingers messing with my black hair. Clicking his tongue he straightened out and began walking again.
Gesturing his direction to follow, I picked up my pace behind him. Before I notice, I was walking behind him again.
Throughout the years that fact never changed. It pained me to admit but I could never surpass Lucar, it was quite a controversial feeling. I was grateful to him and yet I also envied him.
"You're such a child." He whispered suddenly.
"Why this all of a sudden? Although I don't appreciate hearing that from somebody who's only 2045 days more matured than me." I quickly responded as I handed him a look. Raising his chin in a very arrogant way he countered.
"That's is exactly what makes you a child."
Oh please, passing into adulthood as a grim reaper doesn't guarantee adult maturity in general.
" I've received my name, I'm no longer a child."
"Hmm. Correct me if I'm wrong someone- though have received their name, still can not properly link with their scythe. Don't get me started with reaping a soul." He scowled. I really don't like this side of him.
"I don't need lectures right now." I responded.
"It's not a lecture, just obvious facts. Just because you've received your name doesn't mean you've reach adulthood as a grim reaper. "
