Naruto sat on the floor beside the third hokage waiting for him to finish speaking. He sat there quietly until the ninja disappeared then he turned to the Hokage and said, "Why don't I have a mom and dad?" Sarutobi gave the boy a sad look and closed his eyes, the image of th boy's parents death still fresh in his mind. "Why do you ask?" Naruto turned his gaze to the floor and sniffed. "The other kids were making fun of me because I didn't have a mom or dad or anything. They said no one wanted me because I'm a monster. Why do they call me that and why are they always mean to me?" He looked at the Hokage with tears in his eyes. "I just want a family and friends." The old man just starred, his ability to speak temporarily gone. He silently pulled the boy to him and held him until he fell asleep. He sighed and watched the sleeping child in his arms. 'Minato, Kushina you should be here. You should be teaching him how to read and write or taking him to the park and playing with him. He doesn't deserve this, the way the villagers treat him. He doesn't deserve any of it.' He gazed out the window lost in thought until he to fell into a dark haunted sleep.
