Chapter 5
Day three came to the tributes with an early start for Area 6 they noticed that something was wrong. "Where's Yasmin?" I asked. Adam was pale, with his skin still swollen but he looked up to see Yasmin was gone. "I can have a look around" I said as I got up to get my bow and arrows. I had a slow short walk around the place we were sleeping. I then started to walk down the hill slightly to see if I could spot her but saw nobody. Suddenly the cannon boomed for all the tributes that died in the night. First was Callum Light from Area 10, followed by Yasmin Ryan from Area 6.
I gasped and knew that she had died in the night from her bites but I feared that Adam was going to die as well. I knew that Adam had not improved overnight. I was about to walk back to Adam when I herd that same bleeping sound again and knew exactly what it was. I saw a grey box heading my way. As it landed next to me I quickly opened it. Inside was a note and a pot of soup.
The note said
Fall for Adam if you have not already. HI stared at the note and then looked at the pot to see soup. I came to the conclusion that Adam was going to die and I was going to make sure Adam died peacefully.
I walked back to him seeing he was sleeping, I awoke him telling him that Yasmin had passed in the night. He looked sad but I started to feed him the pot of soup from the box and he finished the half large pot Yasmin used yesterday. I let him have more than normal since it was probably going to be his last meal. "Thank you for taking care of me" Adam whispered. "It's nothing, you will beat this". "I don't know". "Hey! Your strong you'll beat it". "Will you lay with me?" Adam asked moving his right arm out. "Of course" I snuggled next to Adam and cuddled with him for a few hours. I rolled over so his body touched my back. I felt his big manly arms around my body. His skin was soft, ok after not washing for three days he didn't smell like a rose but I felt safe with his arms around me. I felt like no one could hurt me with him around. If someone was to come near they'd just drop dead or something.
"Attention all tributes today at 1pm exactly there will be a feast at the centre of the arena. Each of you need something and inside your areas bag will be something that each of you need. That will be all" the game maker said firmly to the tributes.
"That's your medicine!" I gasped sitting up fast. "No Jake it's a bloodbath, there trying to pull us in so there will be a good fight for the viewers" Adam explained slowly. "I'm scared but I have to go!". "No Jake it's to dangerous!". "If I was sick and possibly dying would you go for me?" I asked. Adam remained silent and didn't reply. "Exactly so I have to go, and I will get your medicine". "Please no Jake, just help me by sitting with me, I will get better. I feel better when I'm with you". I laid next to Adam and looked at him in the eyes. I moved a little closer and I kissed Adam slowly for a few seconds. I then put my head on Adams chest and I felt Adams heart race. It was not pounding with fear it was more fast pacing like he had just scored or something.
Within the hour Adam fell asleep again from his sickness. Poor thing was to weak to stay awake. I didn't know when it would be 1pm but I thought I would have a good guess. I knew that at midday the sun would be high in the sky, if it were 1pm the sun would still be high but ever so slightly lower than at 12pm. Luckily for me my calculations were correct and when that sun was in the perfect position I picked up my arrow bag which I placed on my back and picked up my bow and headed down to the centre in fear. I had a arrow loaded, as I headed down the hill. Suddenly the cannon boomed showing Kieran Phillips from Area 12. " I guess the bags are already here" I said to myself. I continued to walk to the centre at a careful slow pace. My heart beat got faster the closer I got to the centre, I guess it was because I knew that other tributes were close by. Along the way the cannon boomed again showing Jamie Henderson from Area 11. I finally reached the centre and hid behind a bush seeing that tributes were fighting, however ignoring that I saw my bag with a big red six on the front. I refused to go and get the bag until I was sure the tributes fighting had either gone or died. Whilst sitting behind the bush unseen I witnessed, James Jiles and Lucy Partage from Area 2 and Daisy Doolittle from Area 7 die.
