Harry Styles, the British pop star was staying  in Las Vegas at a guest house. He has a small, tight knit group of friends that live in Las Vegas and that includes his cousin, Tess.

Harry encounters Hollywood superstar Selena Gomez one day when she enters a coffee shop that he was at. Minutes later, as he walked by to exit, Harry accidentally bumped into Selena, spilling his coffee on her clothes. Harry apologizes and offers his house nearby for Selena to clean her blouse. She went over briefly and before leaving, they chat for a moment and exchange numbers, then she impulsively kisses Harry and quickly asks him to please not mention what just occurred. Harry is baffled.

Days later, Harry's cousin Tess belatedly relays a message from Selena. Harry gives her a call and she invites him to come hang out with her at the MGM Grand Hotel (Where she is staying). On arrival, She is actually doing a press conference for a new video, Harry had no idea and was mistaken for a journalist-in a panic he claims that he works for US magazine - and is made to interview not only Selena, but the entire production team of her new music video, which he knows nothing about. Selena calls him back in to the press room and says she has cleared her schedule for the evening if he would like to have dinner with her. Harry is exhilarated, before remembering that he is expected at his cousin Tess's birthday party that evening; Selena then surprises Harry by offering to be his date to the party.

At the house of Harry's friends Max and Bella, Selena fits in perfectly as they all share stories and drink some wine. Tess immediately recognizes Selena and asks, can we be please be best friends. Selena giggles and says, sure Tess, I'll friend request you on social media. Harry and Selena leave a few hours later and really hit it off as he walked her back to the hotel from the birthday party. Harry said good night and thank you, Selena. I had an amazing time with you tonight. The following evening they got together and went to a little restaurant to have dinner, where Harry overhears a group of patrons making crude remarks about Selena's music, and attempts to defend her, before Selena steps in herself and humiliates the patrons. As they went back to her hotel, Selena invites Harry up to her room. But when they arrive, she quietly tells him he must leave immediately. Her Canadian pop star ex-boyfriend (Justin Bieber) appears and starts to swear, as well as make unflattering comments about Selena. Selena is very apologetic and embarrassed, while a stunned Harry leaves. Over the few weeks, Harry's friends Max and Bella set him up on a couple of blind dates, trying to help him move on; however Harry, still hung up on Selena, does not connect with any of the girls.

One day, a distraught Selena appears at Harry's doorstep; some pre-stardom nude photos have been published in the tabloids (along with reports of a video filmed without her permission), and she needs a place to hide from the press. Once she calms down, they spend some quality time on his back patio and she asks his opinion for her upcoming song. She also apologizes for the previous incident, telling Harry her ex-boyfriend simply showed up out of the blue and the relationship had broken down long before then. When she sees a poster of a Picasso painting on his bedroom wall, Selena tells Harry that "you should get the original". Harry replies, I wish! That night, Selena was lying on his couch almost asleep and decided to go upstairs and lay in the bed next to Harry, she put her arm on his chest and they began to kiss and they made passionate love all night long. The next morning, the press and paparazzi (inadvertently tipped off by Tess) besiege Harry's house and get pictures of both him and Selena half-dressed. While getting ready to leave his house, a furious Selena accuses Harry of exploiting the situation for his own benefit and declares that she regrets their time together, because the press will make sure it never goes away.

A few months now pass and Harry, though determined to forget Selena, remains miserable. Tess and Bella find the numbers to Selena's Hollywood and New York agents, encouraging him to reach out, but Harry decides to throw them away. One night at dinner with his friends, Harry discovers that Selena is now back in Las Vegas shooting a music video. Harry, nervously goes to her location shoot to see her, where Selena sees him instantly and invites him past security. Although things are not going well on set, she asks him to stay because there are "things to say to each other". He is surprised to find that it is a video to a song he had previously suggested would be a #1 hit for Selena. Given headphones to listen to her over their microphones, Harry overhears Selena bantering with her rude director, until the director mentions seeing Harry and Selena refers to him dismissively and says he is just a fan. Saddened, Harry leaves the set.

The next day, Selena went to Harry's house with a present (The original Picasso painting). Visibly nervous, She apologizes for her previous behavior and expresses a desire to rekindle their relationship. When Harry points out her comments the previous day, she explains that she would never discuss her private life with "the most indiscreet director in Hollywood." Believing it inevitable that they would break up, Harry turns her down, as her superstar status would mean he could never really escape the pain of losing her, and having it happen a third time would crush him. Although saddened, Selena accepts his decision, but reminds Harry that underneath all the fame & fortune, which is really just nonsense- she tells Harry that she is "also just a regular girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." Then Selena kisses him goodbye.

Harry meets his friends in a restaurant with the original Picasso painting. They take turns supporting his decision to end the relationship by (halfheartedly) pointing out Selena's life may be too hectic. When Tess enters and is told what happened, she promptly asks, Is that the original Picasso? Harry replied, yes, Selena brought it for me as a gift. Tess instantly calls Harry a "bastard". Harry replays Selena's last comment aloud and realizes he has made a huge mistake. They pile into Max's car and race across the Las Vegas strip to Selena's hotel, where they find that she has checked out and is holding a press conference at Planet Hollywood. When Harry arrives, Selena's publicist is telling the crowd that Selena will be taking time off from making music and leaving Las Vegas that night. Harry, pretending to be a reporter once again, admits he made the wrong decision and begs Selena to please reconsider. After a brief pause, then admitting she would, Selena announces that she will be staying in Las Vegas "indefinitely." Selena and Harry gaze into each others eyes and smile from across the room as the press and paparazzi go into a major frenzy.
