Chapter one: Home?

Ricky sat in the sandbox playing with his cars. He made small noises as he moved them over the sand hills. He frowned as a shadow was cast over him.

"Hello. What's your name?"

"Wicky."

"Hello Ricky. I'm Josh. Where's your parents?"

"I dons have dem." Ricky shrugged. He smiled as Josh sat next to him and started to play with the cars with him.

"Would like some?"

"I guess so. Everywone else do."

"Hm. How old are you?"

"Fourtween. 'm home... home..."

"Homeschooled?" Josh offered.

"Mhm. Cause-Cause I'm not..."

"It's alright. I can be your daddy and that nice lady over there can be your mommy." Ricky smiled as he looked over at the woman.

"O-Okay!"

"Let's go." Josh stood up, gently grabbing Ricky's hand. "You're going to have a big brother too."

"Where he at?"

"Home. We have to go home. We live in this really pretty field with a beautiful garden that you can help mommy take care of. Doesn't that sound fun?"

"Yeah!" Ricky giggled. He quickly grabbed his toys, holding them to his chest as they neared the man's car.
