Rosaline
"Oh god, no." I gasp in horror as I step inside the dim room.
My siblings, there are three of them here. Vivianne, Andrea and Ashton. They freeze in their spot like a caught up deer when they see me.
A whip in Ashton's hand, Andrea and Vivianne are close to the creature too.
The vampire himself is clutching on the ground, whimpering and hissing in pain. Even from distant I can already see the blood and bruises that marked his body.
"What the fuck?!" Anger rises inside me, boiling with rage. "What the fuck do think you're doing?!" I turn to my mom, looking at her with betrayed stares. I feel so betrayed by her. She promised not to buy a vampire slave, yet what the hell is that? What the hell is this? "You let them buy this, didn't you?" She doesn't answer, her mouth is open but her voice stay behind her throat. "You let them buy this, didn't you?!" I demand answer, louder this time.
She nods slowly. Right here I know that something is wrong with her brain. Something is obviously wrong with her.
"Why the hell did you let this happen?! I trusted you!" My voice booms.
"Rosaline-"
"Mom, give her the blood." Ashton says from the distant. His voice is at ease, but I can still hear the nervousness in it.
Ever since dad died, mom becomes careless about mostly anything. She lost her mind. She goes to work everyday then comes back home. Not minding us. I am the oldest of my siblings, I'm the one that always there for them, always making sure they get what they need -at least until I was sent to the academy.
But I'm the most respected person in the family ever since then, and now.. I just feel like they stab a knife in my back.
"You are not going to make me drink the blood." The only way so someone can be a master to their vampire slave is to drink the blood from the vampire itself. But the one that sold the vampire already handle the process, they also mixed the blood with some things first so the vampires will have no choice but to obey their master.
"You will, Rosaline." His voice gets more shaky.
"You have to." Andrea says too, looking very nervous.
I step closer, eyeing them sharply. "And what if I don't?" There is a threat in my tone.
Ashton kneels down near the vampire boy, "get the thing." He mutters to Vivianne. I watch as Vivianne takes a wooden cross from the table near them and hands it to Ashton. "If you don't do it, I will kill him." There is no sound of threat in Ashton's voice. He is so afraid of me that he can't even put on a threatening act.
"You won't." I say, surely.
"I will. I'd rathet kill this filthy creature than let it have a slight chance of hurting you."
"What the hell is wrong with the four of you?! Does Livi know about this too?!" I'd be damned if my other 5 years old sister know about this too.
"Livi doesn't know." Vivianne answer, her voice shaking with fear. "She doesn't know, I swear. She never even saw the creature. We got him into the house at midnight."
"Rosaline, please. Just drink the blood." My mom begs, handing a very small glass bottle contained with blood. They all must've drink the blood too.
Hatred. "If I drink this, you will leave him alone. All the four of you. You understand me?" I demand them.
They nod, slowly, fear in their eyes.
I finally take the blood harshly from my mother, drink it quickly in one gulp without second thought.
The taste of the thick liquid feels bitter and slightly burning, the smell of blood invades the inside of my mouth shortly after.
"It's done. Now leave the room. I don't want any of you near the creature again, do you understand me?"
They nod again. Though there was a mix of hatred, disappointment, and something else in Ashton's eyes.
"Are you not agreeing on this, Ashton? Because if you don't, feel free to get out of my house." My mom and my dad had divorced before he died. Technically, this house was given to me. My mother moved in after dad died, saying that she wanted to take care of us, when really, she only stays because she needs a place to sleep. House is a very precious and expensive property lately, even my mother's salary would only give her a small bunk of an apartment.
Ashton stays silent. Following behind the rest of my family member as they got out of the room.
I approach the creature at the center of the room when they all finally disappear behind the closed door. I walk carefully.
This is not the first time I ever get close to a vampire, but still, there is a little chill running down my spine. Not fear, something else.
"Please," he begs. His voice is just above a whisper. Painfully cutting through my chest. "Please, don't hurt me. Please."
I put my gun back at my weapon gear that hang around my waist. I kneel near the creature and place my finger on the side of his cold face. A boy. But not young. He was roughly about an early 20. But he looks young. His face is bruised, and though I know vampires can heal and regenerate themselves, I know the fact that it will still hurt them too when they do it.
"I'm not going to hurt you, cold one. Now come, get up and I'll take you out of this room." I say, as gently as I can. I don't really know how to be soft to people, the least I can do is to be gentle.
"Where?" His voice is still so low and afraid. His eyes meet mine, they are dark blue. His black hair covered his temple. Vampires don't sweat, nor can they have a smell. If they can, he would totally be a mess right now.
"Somewhere safe." I answer.
