Fairy tail belongs to Hiro Mashima.

An eight year old Erza was still in  shock. During her family's return from a resort on the weekend, their car got hit by a drunk truck driver which resulted in her parents' death. She was quite lucky that she had survived the severe injury on her head, according to the doctors. But now she was alone. She didn't have many relatives, but they took all get parents' properties but were also not ready to take care of her. So the only option left was to leave her in an orphanage.

There she stood with a couple of policemen, in front of R-Orphanage in Rosemary Village. What a weird nameWas the first thing that came to her mind. Then she saw an old, tall man coming out of the building. He had a huge smile on his face. "Mr Rob?" one of the policemen asked. "Yes, that would be me." The old man replied. Then she bent down so that she was at Erza's height. "And this little would be Erza. Am I correct, sweety?" He asked gently. Erza shyly nodded. The way this man spoke reminded her of her father. "Then we shall leave her in your care." The other policeman said. With that both of them left.

"May I ask you something?"Erza asked in a timid voice. "Of course sweety! What is it?" Rob replied. Erza looked at the sign board and asked, "What does 'R-Orphanage' mean?" Rob laughed."No one had ever asked that before but I'll tell you. Well I basically named it on my name. 'R' for Rob and 'R' for R-Orphanage. But now i feel that it's meaning has changed." Rob told her as he kept leading her inside the building by her hand. "What does it mean now?" Erza asked. "It now means the 'Revival' Orphanage. I saw how the little children who had lost their families found new families here. They were born anew. They were granted a new life." Erza looked at him in wonder. "I didn't get that." Rob looked at him sweetly and said, "Of course you don't, sweety. You're too young to understand."

They reached an open place which looked like a playground. Erza saw some children playing there. She instantly hid behind Rob's leg causing him to chuckle. Erza was shy and not a good mixer. "Kids!" All heads turned towards Rob. "I told you about a new friend, right? Will, she's here. Make her feel welcome since she'll be staying with us from now on." Rob looked at Erza and said, "Introduce yourself, sweety."

Erza moved forward, looking down, playing with the hem of her skirt. "H-Hello. My name is E-Erza S-Scarl-let. It's n-nice to meet you all." She continuously stammered while speaking. One blond boy walked up to her and said, "Hello! I am Sho! It's soooo nice to have you here! I got a new sister!" He said excitingly. Erza smiled at him. Then a black haired boy said,"Hey! The name's Wally. It's nice to meet you." She smiled at him too.
A brunette girl literally jumped her way to Erza and introduced herself, "Helloooo!! I am Milliana! It makes me all spiffy whenever we have a friend here!" She had a huge grin on her face. A dark brown haired boy made his way towards Erza. "I am Simon. I hope we can be good friends." He said with a blush which Erza found cute.

Finally the last boy who had blue hair and red tattoo above and below his right eye came up and said, "Hey! My name is Jellal Fernandez. Welcome to the orphanage! Let me show you around later, all right?" He has a contagious smile which even made Erza smile.

She hadn't smiled ever since the accident but among these people, she didn't feel alone. Rob secretly smiled to himself and left the children to know each other more.

Three years later

Erza had befriended everyone in the orphanage and had also came over the shock of the accident with her friends' help. She was especially close to Sho, Wally, Milliana, Simon and Jellal. They always stayed together.

Milliana, as stubborn as always, had decided that the children would cook by themselves today as it was Erza's eleventh birthday. Erza was very excited. But she also wished that Simon was there with them. He has been adopted six months ago by a wealthy couple.
