~~~ Ali's POV ~~~
I sighed and gave a little smile, hanging my last item of clothing to be unpacked in my new wardrobe.
I took a step back, hands on hips and looked around my room in satisfaction.
I hadn't been lying when I'd told Black it was like my old bedroom.
It was mainly white, lots of light flooding in through the window, the odd specks of colour were pastel pinks and greens and the furniture was sweet and homely - I already loved the pale pink armchair by the window. I'd stacked the few books I had managed to stuff into my suitcase on the table next to it.
I walked over to the huge, white framed, full length mirror opposite my bed and tied my blonde curls into a ponytail. I sighed in frustration as stray strands fell loose around my face like always.
Then I just stood.
I couldn't avoid it anymore.
I looked at the door and bit my lip.
I glanced at the bedside clock which said 8:46 AM.
I let out my breath in defeat and headed for the door, my fluffy boot slippers scuffling the deep carpet as I dragged my feet.
We have to talk sometime, I told myself, and I knew my mate wouldn't be the one to instigate that.
Therefore I had resolved to go downstairs and make an effort as soon as I had unpacked my clothes and few belongings.
I wrung my hands together as I slowly walked along the landing.
When I eventually stepped carefully off the bottom step I stopped and looked around.
The house was eerily silent and suddenly I felt very alone.
I wrapped my arms around myself as I slowly walked down the hall and into the kitchen.
It was huge, classy and it looked out over the expansive living room.
Walking over to the kettle, I flicked in on to boil and went to rummage in the cupboards, only one thing in mind.
I found the mugs, but I still couldn't find what I was looking for.
I begged the heavens that he had some!
I rifled through every cupboard, draw, shelf, you name it.
Still no luck.
I sighed as I opened the last overhead cupboard, standing on the very tips of my toes to reach the handle.
No way.
There it was.
I could see a tub of it!
I felt a huge smile spread across my face.
I'd found it!
. . . But then I frowned.
It was on the very top shelf - I knew there was no way I could reach it.
I huffed in despair.
I gazed up at the tub and decided that desperate times called for desperate measures, so I was just going to have to climb up onto the kitchen counter.
With new determination I scaled the draw handles and heaved myself up so that I stood on the table top - face to face with the one thing I KNEW would make me feel better.
