Nine Years Ago . . .
Theo (age nine)

"Victor?" I yelled, "Where'd you go?" We were playing hide n' seek, and I loved that game! I ran around the yard, wondering where my best friend had gone. I know I wouldn't see him anymore, he was thirteen and his pack had to bring all the young teens on some sort of trip for training.

"Victor? Victor, where are you?"

I saw a bush rustling behind a tree, and immediately went over to see if it was him. I pulled back the branches and leaves, screaming, "Found you!" Victor laughed, picking me up in his arms, "You're a good seeker, aren't you buddy?"

He put me down and ruffled my hair, "Can we play again?"

That was when I saw him frown, why was he frowning? He gave me a weak smile, "Sorry, but no can do little Theo. not for a long time anyway..."

"Why? How about tag?"

"No."

"Why not?" I asked, pouting, "Don't you want to play with me anymore?"

"No, no, no, I do buddy! I do! It's just..." he groaned, his head in his hands, "I'm leaving today, and in a few minutes actually. We won't be seeing each other for a while bud." I pouted even mor,e tears falling down my face, "H-How long...?"

"I dunno Theo, I don't know." He replied, but smiled when he started to fish through the pockets of his jacket. There, he pulled out a tiny notepad filled with neat writing. I looked through it, trying to see what it said. "But Victor...you hate Christina Perri. Why'd you write the lyrics down to her songs?"

"I made it for you, you love her music write? Well, I listened to her songs for hours to get the words just right. If you ever miss me, just sing any song from this little book and you'll be happy again." He patted my shoulder, and turned towards the pack house, "Your dad and my Alpha need me to go on a special mission. I can't promise you I'll be back soon, but I can promise you I will come back eventually."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Present Day . . .

"So, you two were best friends?" My mate asked, looking between Victor and I. Victor nodded, his body against a tree as he was slowly healing from the bite mark my mate had so rudely given him. "I went on that damned trip like promised, and after a year I was finally allowed out. E-Except, the group I travelled with was attacked by rouges. I didn't know where I was, and I was alone. So I traveled around, and crawled up the ranks from some weak rouge to the Alpha of them all. I didn't even know I was so close to Theo's pack. I've been gone for so long, and I was taught by the rogues here to never go passed that pack border."

"Well I'm glad you're back." I grinned hugging Victor tightly, careful not to go near his neck. My mate on the other hand, wished Victor had brought his clothes along. My mate was smart though, carrying his clothes by tying them to his leg and putting them on after. I looked to my mate, "So, what's your story?"

"My story? What do you mean by that?" He asked.

"What's your life like? Good, bad? Any family you'd like to talk about?" I kept rambling, and he ended up forcibly closing my mouth with his hand. He chuckled, "For someone who was pretty bruised, you sure have the mouth to talk. I'm honestly surprised the both of you don't even know who I am."

"Who are you then?" Victor asked, "You don't smell of rogue."

"As if! I would rather burn to ashes than be exiled from my pack." He huffed, then eyed me sweetly, "But for you, I'd give up my title for you a thousand times and more." He looked to the trees pointing west, opposite of the mountains to where my pack was. Well, ex pack. I was booted. "There," he said, "my pack lies beyond those trees."
