Annabeth woke that morning to the sound of crying. It was her mother. She ran into her mothers bedroom and asked her quietly "Momma, what's wrong?"
"Moros never came home last night after he went to a friends! We called them, but they said he was never there! This is my fault. He's been threatening to run away for a while, because of John." She sobbed. John was Annabeth's abusive step father, and Moros was one of her Triplets, though Silver had been taken by her father away.
"Have you talked to Carter?" Annabeth asked. Carter was her half-brother, only having our mother in common. He was spoiled, and not beaten, by his real father, John.
"Yes. He said that Moros told him that he would be back in a few years, when he was ready to take John on." The tears were still running down her face, and Annabeth guessed that he was going to train with their father
"Mom, you know that I would know if something happened to Moros, unless he purposely blocked me from him." The 5 year old smiled at her mother.
"Yes, that is true... Go out and play with Carter. Don't let John get the best of you, hun. Stay strong." She smiled knowingly, in the way that only mothers could.
~~~A few months later~~~
"Carter! Dont do that!" Annabeth shrieked, right as the 3 year old punched the wall. He was very strong for his age, and as he punched the wall that lead into the room where our mother was, the wall gave way. Afterwards it was chaos. They heard a shreak, which was like someone was dying, and the girl ran into the room to see that her mother, who had been on her knees to start the vacuum cleaner, was choaking, and Annabeth had been the one who shrieked, feeling the contact on her mothers throat. My mother then fell to the ground, lifeless. The girl sat at her feet, sobbing.
"MOMMY!!" Annabeth screamed, and then John was there. He started punching her and her dead mother. Annabeth screamed at him and threw him across the room. He hit the wall and was knocked out.
The whole affair happened in 30 minuets, counting the argument me and Carter had been having about who was stronger. A dumb little argument compared to what it did. After John hit the wall, the police could be heard banging on the door. They said "Police, Open up!" And then bashed down the door. Well duh, we told them the story. They didn't believe us, and so they thought we were insane, and dragged us to the asylum.
