It was just a normal day at school, until something differently happened. The teacher got our attention and made an announcement.
"Class, we have a new student joining us today. Her name is Jackie Valentina."
The teacher opens the door, and offers her to come in, and when she did, I couldn't look away. She walked in and the whole class was silent and just looked. She was wearing a beanie, a shirt that had band names on them, a leather jacket, a faded pair of blue jeans, and high tops converse. Her hair was a light brownish color and was wavy. And her eyes; when I looked into them, I couldn't look away, for they told a story...and I was part of that story. As soon as she met my eyes, I looked away, realizing that I was staring at her. Nice first impression, doofus, but she started walking towards the back and sat two seats away from me to my left. I looked at her, studying her body expression, and her eyes met mine again, and I looked away, not looking at her for the rest of the period, but she kept looking at me, like she was also reading my body expressions.
The bell rang and everyone got up and started heading out the door. Everyone had left, except for Jackie and I. I stayed because I have a lot of stuff to carry, but I don't know why she stayed, so I asked her. I said, "So, why are you staying? Don't know where to go?" And she replied, "I know where to go. I just choose not to because the class isn't necessary for me." I asked her what class she had and she said she had Eniglish and Language. I told her that she has to take that class if she wants to graduate, but she just sat there, moving her eyes every few seconds, from what's on the wall, to outside the window, to meeting my eyes.
Every time our eyes met, I looked away, and she kept looking at me. There was silence, until the second bell rang, which meant that we were late for our next class; she looked out the window and asked me, "What do you have this period?" I said, "I have Physics, but I'd rather skip it if I could because the teacher can't teach and we don't learn anything." She then said, "Lets skip then. I see that you have a car by the looks of your key chain." I told her that I do have a car, but our teachers would know that we skipped by attendance and where I parked, cameras can see us leave. She just kept looking back between me and outside the window and suggested that we walk. I told her that we couldn't skip, but she just kept looking out the window, wondering what she was seeing.
So I looked out the window, and I saw what might've been the future. I couldn't explain to her what I saw, but when we met each other's eyes, she smiled and said, "Now that you see how I see, let's go." She gets up, grabs my arm and starts running and pulling me with her. I stumbled onto my feet, trying to regain balance and trying to keep up with her. We ran out of the high school, and we just ran and ran, not knowing where we were going. After 30 minutes of running, we stop at an abandon park. She was still smiling and started walking to the swings, while breathing heavily from running. I try to catch my breath, and follow her to the swings as she gets on one and starts to swing.
There's silence again, between us, but that soon breaks when we hear a puppy barking on top of the slide. She gasps and runs towards it and grabs it before it slid down the slide and walked back to the swing. I smile and just watched her, and sat on the other swing, slowly losing my smile and looking down. She sets the puppy down, and both her and the puppy walked towards me. She lifted up my head, and asked me if she could trust me and if I could trust her. I told her that we barely just met, but she kept asking, and after looking into her eyes, I say yes, that we can trust each other. She picks up the puppy, says "Alright then. I'll see you tomorrow," and walks off.
"What did I get myself into? She seems nice, sweet, and kind, but there's something off about her. I just don't know what. Who, exactly are you, Jackie Valentina?"
