Chapter 1

I'm Taeyeon. Leader of Asia's biggest girl group, Girls' Generation. This is my story. The story of the event that changed my life forever. It all started on that camping trip.

April 27th, 2012

"Thank you!" I yelled into the microphone, joining hands with Tiffany and Seohyun. We bowed and the sound of applause roared in my ears as we walked offstage.

We were met by the staff members, who congratulated us for our wonderful performance. My stylist complimented my high note and I bowed and said my thanks.

I turned around and Sunny was there, hugging me. "Great job today," she whispered in my ear. I hugged her back and smiled. Sunny is such a great friend.

Soon, the other six girls were surrounding Seohyun, Tiffany and I. They congratulated us until Sooyoung said, "Hey, are we going to the camping trip tonight?" She scrolled through her messages and waited for a response from us.

"I'm up for it," I said, smiling. Sooyoung smiled back and texted to the person on her phone. Camping. There's nothing better than staying in a small tent with eight other girls and being surrounded by dirt, the cold air, and wild animals that could possibly eat us at any moment.

Once every few years, Mr. Lee Sooman let's

all of the artists and some of the staff go on a camping trip to a local forest. We all sleep in tents and have to bring enough food to feed all of us. The huge group tries to fit around one small, little campfire and we all sing songs and roast marshmallows over the fire.

Even though I don't make it sound fun, it really is.

"나는 twinkle 티가나!" Hyoyeon, Yoona, and Yuri shouted and Tiffany started dancing to their singing. I grinned and joined in.

"Taeyeon unnie, do the high note," Sunny begged, doing her adorable pout.

"Soonkyu, yah, you know how hard that note is," I argued. My throat still hurts from doing it about five minutes ago.

Sunny did her aegyo and I couldn't resist. I did the high note. The girls looked at me in amazement. "Wow," Jessica said under her breath. She looked at me with her mouth hanging open and I laughed.

"You can hit high notes better than me! I bet you could do that note flawlessly," I said, patting Sica's back. She flipped her brown hair over her shoulder and said, "I've tried it for fun. I cannot hit that high note like you can."

I smiled and we all starting singing and dancing to Twinkle again.

5:30pm, Kimchi Forest, Seoul.

"Hey Taeyeon," Heechul said, coming over to take my heavy bag.

"Heechul! Long time no see," I said, smiling. I walked along with him and carried my bulky sleeping bag to SNSD's tent. Heechul and I put my things inside the tent and zipped it up. I guess Sunny and Sooyoung already put the tent up.

"I bought the entire Twinkle album. It's great," Heechul said while patting my head. When he took his hand off of my head, I said, "Thank you, oppa." And then I patted his head and we laughed.

It was great to be able to forget about our busy schedule and hang out with all of our friends for one day. I looked around and saw Krystal and Jessica leaning against a tall oak tree, talking to each other and smiling. I loved seeing them together. It makes me miss my brother and sister.
