(Open on a forest, with a storm pouring down from above. The Beast, in human form, dashes through the forest, holding a musket in his left hand, chasing after a wolf that is holding a ham in its mouth. He aims at the wolf as it goes into a clearing center stage, and fires at it, but a deerling gets in the way. The Beast reviles in horror as the baby deer begins bleeding out and the wolf flees.)
Beast: No!
(The Beast rushes towards the baby deer, holding it in his arms as its life fades from its eyes.)
Beast: What have I done?
???: (Enters from stage left, an eerie version of 'Gaston' playing. Wears a black cloak, with his face hidden.) What you always do.
Beast: Who are you?
???: (Gaston theme synchs as actor sings.) You know me.
(Singing) I use antlers in all of my decorating!
Beast: It's you! Gaston!
(Lightening and thunder strike. Music fades out.)
Gaston's Ghost: Close. I'm a ghost now. Thanks a lot foul beast.
Beast: I spared you, and I am no beast.
(Lightening strikes, thunder crackles. The Beast stands up.)
I am a man, just as you once were before you lost that title and became a coward when you tried to kill me.
Gaston's Ghost: Coward? (Music returns as Gaston sings)
(Singing) When I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs every morning to help me get large.
You though, you are a monster. Look at yourself. Look at what you've done.
(Gaston leans down next to the deerling's corpse.)
Even I, an experienced hunter, find this disgusting. You have robbed this inoccent creature of life. Just as you robbed me of mine. Just like a monster.
Beast: Me? I'M A MONSTER!?! You use antlers in ALL of your decorating! How many deer have you killed in your quest for aesthetic design?
Gaston: I never killed a child, did I? I never kidnapped an innocent old man and traded him for her daughter. I never turned away an old women out of scorn and spite and got my entire staff cursed. What I've done is nothing compared to what you've done. You rubies the lives of a hundred servants from your arrogance.
Beast: And your arrogance led you to death! You wanna go for round two?
(A darker, intimidating version of Be Our Guest begins to play)
(Singing)
Be my guest!
Be my guest!
Here we are,
Let's go again!Gaston: (Darker, intense version of Gaston's theme play.)
Now that I'm here,
I'll kill you,
Like this deer,
I'll cleanse the world of your stench!(Gaston lunges at the Beast, who fires his gun. Gaston doesn't bleed, he fades out, like a mist.)
Beast: Rest in peace. Gaston.
(Closes the deerling's eyes, and walks back the way he came onto the stage, slowly. Curtains fall.)
