Ambrosius waited calmly at the dining room table. The fog had begun to clear up and patches of blue were visible beneath the clouds. The lake. Another benefit of the Vanity having been designed not only as a tower itself, but rather a mini city altogether.

Two buildings stood on either side of the Vanity, though they were nowhere near as tall yet they still possessed the same black, glass facade. Truly a wonder. A world in its own locked away from the rest of society.

When the first tanker ships began dumping sand and cement into the lake, Chicagoans immediately began speculating as to what would be built here. Perhaps a public park.

As the towers began to rise residents were bewildered when their once unobstructed views were completely blocked off. Million dollar penthouses lost value overnight and within months the population in downtown was cut almost in half.

The immense shadow cast by the tower further reduced the desire to live in the once coveted area. Now most every building in the city center has been turned into luxury offices, many still remaining vacant.

Once construction was completed, the conspiracy theorists got to doing what they did best.

Atomic bomb hidden in plain sight, Masonic headquarters and even Satanic temple. These were the attributes which these low-lives attached to the tower.

But that was fine. Because at the end of the day, the Sidorov's were the ones at the top and everyone else was at the bottom. It did not matter what anyone thought.

After all, power and pride usually go together.

"Master?" Nathan called and Ambrosius turned around to face his parents.

"Buenos dias mijo." Ambrosius' mother Anastasia exclaimed almost nonchalantly. The jet lag must have gotten to her, even though it was only a two hour flight from Madrid. Over the years she had lost her Spaniard accent and opted for a more neutral one recently.

It didn't matter. She was still Ambrosius' mother and he loved her. She looked as ageless as ever. Strangely enough, perhaps she was looking younger these days.

Ambrosius and his mother embraced in a warm hug.

"There he is!" Nikolai yelled with absolute thrill and sincere emotion, somewhat interrupting the moment mother and son were having.

"Hi dad." Ambrosius chuckles. His dad was slightly awkward but more so lately. It was almost like he was a different person entirely. He never understood how a man such as his father had scored such an excellent woman as his mother.

Definitely out of his league.

It was quite charming the way his parents had met. Ambrosius' father had been out exploring the countryside in Spain until he wound up lost, not knowing where he was. Eventually he found a clearing near the coast and ended up in a beach.
