Today was an evolutionary day,and you wouldn't believe why.It was just an ordinary day in South city,a small town in Westchester, besides the fact that today was new year's eve,and we were getting ready to celebrate the new year ,when,at 11 o' clock at night, while I was searching for more research and information about the geological structure of our small part of town,I find something intriging that seems to peek my interest in geology.Hi,I'm Evan Galloway, and this, well, this,is my journal (note that this is not a diary).Yes,what a wonderful day here in South city, nothing to trouble me here like the deafening noises of rushing cars and people's loud chattermouths speaking utter nonsense, like,"Where d'ya think you're goin, mista?"or,my personal favourite,"Hey,I'm walkin ova here",but there's nothing better than a "Heeeeyyy, watch where ya goin!!"Yes,if you didn't already guess it yet,I don't like New York.I just moved here from London and the first place any non-american would likely want to go to is eventually New York,as they do say it's"What dreams are made of" and all of that, but when you realise it,it's actually a pretty terrilble place, with all the odours, noises, not to mention the amount of crime in there:all the theives, rapists, murderers, serial killers, prostitutes, and yes, there are no spider-men and iron men or daredevils out there to eliminate it,(superheroes were actually one of the reasons I moved here, because I thought they were real, but unfortunately, the truth hit me like a kick to the nuts)sadly,so,instead,I moved to Westchester(home to another group of superhumans)and there I found peace and serenity.
Yes,I might be a geologist, but I tend to enjoy comic books(which should explain my love for superheroes)and reading interesting fantasy books. One of my favourites is probably somewhere around a "Jules Verne" journey into the deep(twenty thousand leagues under the sea) and a visit to magic and Hogwarts(Harry Potter or Fantastic beasts).I'm an avid book reader, and have a rather small library, and I see people go on these amazing adventures, hoping that one day,I could find some of my own.Of course there's absolutely nothing fun about being a person who looks at rocks for a living(aha, eat that secretary job,now who's worse),so you can imagine how adventurous my life really is compared to the books I read.
Well, all of that changed when my fellow long-time colleague,Doctor Darrian Feirchild, and I,looked for any strange phenomena in the area, and boy did we find something strange indeed.Darrian was actually from Westchester, and lived in the Big Apple for some time, and liked it.He told me that it truly is a beautiful place, but I didn't agree.I've only been here for at least a month. What did we find you may ask.Well, that's a long story.
We don't really know what it is,but what ever it is,it hasn't been discovered until now. It's unlike anything I've ever seen before. It's a glowing rock.I haven't seen anything like this before in my whole career as a geologist."What do you think it is?"my colleague asks me."The future",I reply. We both take it back to the laboratory to examine this new discovery.Could it be the result of a chemical reaction between two elements?Maybe Neon and something else?We don't know, yet.
We both take it back to the lab to examine it.I stare in awe as I've only seen these kind of things in movies, never in real life. What does this mean for the future of geology,or science in general?
