I swallow, trying to make my throat just a little less dry, and also settle my ever raging nerves. Nerves that had at least been present since my mother informed me about our move. I have lived in the same three story country house my whole life, now she was moving us across the state, to a town that, to be honest, I didn't even know the name of. I hopped off my motorbike, wishing I could stay on it forever, and just drive all the way back home. I pulled off my helmet and locked it on the handle bars.

I pulled my backpack out of it's compartment and slung it over my shoulders. Just like my mom to move us halfway through the second semester. Everyone's itching for summer, and no one is expecting a new girl to walk through the doors.

I took a deep breath and started up the front drive. I held my head high and navigated the crowded halls. Everywhere I look I saw new faces, and people staring at me. New girl. I navigated my way to the office. I opened the glass door, and slid inside. I approached a women at a desk facing the door.

"Hi, I'm Laney Evans, I'm new," I smiled at her. She glared at me over a pair of reading glasses. She silently pushed a schedule towards me. "Thanks. So should I just.." I pointed towards the door. She started typing. "Um ok," I said. I picked up the schedule and opened the door. There weren't many kids left in the hallways, just the stragglers. I prayed that the teacher wouldn't give me detention for being late. On a whim, I turned to the left. To be honest, I had no idea where I was going, hence my assumption I was going to be late.

Just as suspected I found myself in a wing of the school, and I had no idea where I was. There was no one for my to ask for directions. All of the room numbers were in the forties, and I needed the sixties. It was safe to assume I would need to go two wings over on either side, of course all school have strange numbering systems, so I could be completely off, and the sixties could be in some hidden underground bunker five miles away from the school.

Suddenly my back straightened, like I was being possessed.  My vision went in and out. Not here, not now, I thought. I barely could get myself against a locker before I couldn't see anything.

Images went in and out of my head. I saw a boy, with dark hair. He was tripping over an untied shoelace, spilling his books all over the hallway.

I felt someone put a hand on my back, and it wasn't in my head. I couldn't get the image of the kid spilling his books out of my head. Another kid kicked him in the head, and nose. His nose bled all over the floor. Then it went away. I gasped for breath, my vision swimming

"Are you ok?" A boy asked. "Do you need to sit down?" When I didn't respond, he helped my slid down to the floor. I put my head between my knees, and when the world stopped spinning I looked up.

The boy from my vision was staring back at me.

"Are you ok?" He repeated.  "Do you need to go to the nurse?"

"No, no. I'm fine," I assured him, but my voice was a little shaky. "This kind of thing happens a lot," I muttered. That was partially true. I do get 'visions' a lot, but none had been that bad before. My breath was still ragged, and my head hurt, a lot.

"Do your parents know?" He asked, rubbing my back.

"Of course, my mom does." I swallowed hard, and tucked my head between my knees again.

"Ok, I'm taking you to the nurse," He said.

"No," I said sharply. "No, It's fine. You should probably be in class. I'm fine. Really." I stood leaning against the lockers. "See, fine."

"Do you need any help getting to class?" He asked. "You look new."

"I am. Do you know where room 63 is?"

"Go to the end of this hall and take two lefts. It'll be on your right."

"Thanks. I'm Laney," I held out my hand. He shook it.

"Eddie," He smiled. "Well, feel better." He shoved his hands in his pockets.

"I will. And Eddie? Tie your shoe laces," I blurted out. He looked down puzzled at his feet. Both his shoes were perfectly tied. "Later. Tie them later."

I took off down the hallway, cursing myself for telling him that. Now he'll know something is off about me. but he was kind to me, I can't let him get hurt like that. I'll just have to deal with the consequences.
