"Come on Hugh! Pass the ball!" Millard shouted, his hat bobbing up and down; the only indication as to where he was.

"You have to get it yourself, those are the rules!" Hugh yelled back, bees flying behind him as he races across the field.

You laugh a little to yourself, watching the other children play. Emma was putting the baby squirrel in the tree with Olive helping hold the rope. Fiona was shaping more animal hedges, creating creatures you'd see in Greek mythology. Miss Peregrine herself was out in the back of the house, checking on the rest of the children. You sat under a tree by yourself, reading a book.

You were new here at Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children and didnt really know the other children yet. You came here quite by accident. You were trying to hide from a group of kids that had been chasing you after school. You ran to the beach, and into a small crevasse in the rocks. You waited inside that dingy, suffocating cave for over an hour, waiting and listening for the kids to come find you. With your eyes being adjusted to the dark, you began to look around and noticed that the cave wasnt as small as you thought it was. It opened up into an enormous cavern that seemed to tunnel off and stretch out over miles. You wandered through it, exploring your newly found safe-heaven when you realized you had a terrible sense of direction and had become completely lost. Just as you were about to give up hope, someone grabbed you from behind and threw you to the ground.

"Get off of me! Let me go now!" You yell, realizing the kids had found you after all.

"Shut up, you wight!" a husky voice growled in your ear.

"I'm a what?!" You asked confused, but the body on top of yours only grew heavier, pushing you into the hard ground. "Get off of me!"

Suddenly, you felt rough hands turn you over and hold you down by your shoulders, the body on top now straddling you. You gaze up expecting to see some girl and her friends standing above you, laughing and grinning. But instead you were met with soft honey-brown eyes starring a hole through your (e/c) ones. Black curly hair hung messily in his eyes, his lips slightly quivering as he tried to control his breathing. You couldnt help but stare back at him. Then his facial features softened and you felt his weight slightly shift off you as he looked back at you.

"Your eyes arnt white?" He mumbled, a little surprised.

"W-wha-" you strated but got cut off by a voice somewhere in the cave.

"Enoch! Where are you?"

You heard more people coming towards you. Next thing you knew, you were being taken "prisoner" by a bunch of kids who were dressed funny. They led you out of the cave and to a giant house. They took you inside and a woman, dressed in all black greeted you at the door. You were then questioned, and taken in by the woman who went by the name of Miss Peregrine.

"Hey, (y/n), can you go fetch Enoch for me? I got Emma stuck in the tree and the rope is all tangled in a higher up branch." Olive called from across the yard. You shut your book and stand up, looking for anyone else to go in your place.

"Please hurry!" Olive yelled.

You sigh and begin to march towards the house. Ever since you met Enoch hes been uneasy around you. He always seemed to have an attitude with you and never held a conversation for long. You entered the house and trudged upstairs and down the hall. You knock on Enoch's door and speak through the thin wood.

"Enoch? Can you come outside and help get Emma out of the tree?"

Silence...

"Enoch?" you ask again, this time trying the door knob. The door squeaks open a hair, and you peek inside. All you see in inky blackness until your eyes adjust. You poke your head in more and take a look around. Glass jars where sitting on shelves and the floor. Papers were scattered about and his bed was unmade. You decided to check the sheets anyways to see if you could find a sleeping Enoch but it was as you expected; empty. You walk to the desk and pick up one of the papers. It has scribbles and drawings you cant make out or understand. You stare confusingly at it, wondering what it means when you're thoughts are interrupted by the sound of heavy footsteps on the stairs. You jump and rush for the door but realize that if you leave that way, you'd be spotted for sure. You run around in circles like a chicken with its head cut off. Now the steps are coming down the hall and you feel the panic begin to rise with each approaching thud. You run behind a bookshelf and press yourself as far into the wall as you could and silenced your breath. The door knob turns and you hear the sickening squeak of someone entering the room. You peak through the cracks of the shelves and watch Enoch flop down onto his bed. He breathes heavily and sits up, staring at his desk. He stands and walks over to it, and starts to pick up some of the papers and his entire demeanor changes. He slowly looks around, then smiles a little to himself. You watch as he makes his way to the door and hear a click as he locks it. You gasp, then place a hand over your mouth, hoping he didnt hear. He slowly walks around the desk to a shelf and runs his hands along the jars, as if trying to decide which to use. You begin to calm down, thinking he hasnt noticed your presence.
