As the food was placed on table, Connie heard the front door go; Charlie quickly went to answer it before either of the Beauchamps could get to it.

"Aunt Zoe" Connie heard her daughter call. "Come and see what mom got me"

Connie smiled as she wiped her hands and joined them all in the living room; Zoe crouched down next to Grace, gently stroking the puppy.

"She's beautiful Grace; does she have a name?" Zoe asked.

"Not yet, i cant decide"

"Time for the puppy to go into the pen in the kitchen whilst we eat darling; and wash your hands" Connie told her daughter.

"Okay mom"

As Grace did as she was told, Zoe washed her own hands before hugging Connie.

"Happy Christmas; you dont mind us been here do you?" Zoe asked, gesturing to Max.

"Course not; there's more than enough"

"Charlie suggested it might be a nice surprise for Grace" she explained as they took a seat at the table.

"Honestly, it's fine"

After the food was eaten, Max had took Grace and the puppy for a walk whilst Zoe and Connie sat on the sofa, talking; Charlie had insisted on tidying the kitchen.

"Soooo, hows it going with Jacob?"

"Nothing to tell; we kissed once, end of"

"Do you want anything to happen?"

"I have Grace to think of"

"She'd want you to be happy and if he was around, she'd still get her time with you; he really did look after her while you were ill"

"So everyone's been telling me"

"He might seem cocky but when it's just the two of you, he drops the act and he does actually care about you"

"Grace and i have just got back on track; i dont want to risk our relationship again" she said, propping her elbow on the back of the sofa so she could rest her head on her hand.

"So talk to her; Jacob wouldnt be persuing you if he was bothered about Grace"

"I know; i just dont want her getting attached if it's not going to work out"

"So get to know him first; go for a drink on a night Grace is at ours"

"Maybe; where you taking Max?" She asked, wanting to change the subject.

"Over to the Caribbean for two weeks; we fly out tomorrow afternoon. It's our first holiday together..."

"You'll like it there; i dont know where we would be if you hadnt stepped in when you did. I have my daughter back because of you; i dont think i've ever really said thank you so...thank you"

"Anytime"

As they carried on talking, Connie couldnt get her mind off the possible relationship chance she had with Jacob.
