The alarm had gone off about 3 times as I slowly slided my finger across my set of draws to the old fashioned alarm clock. All was quiet as i made my way across the landing to the stairway. The smell of pancakes wasn't there when mum normally made them. "Mum? Dad? Joe? Luke?" My pleads for them to show themselves became desperate as i finally took it in consideration that they weren't here. It was strange but it didn't phase me so i got myself together and got ready for college. My first day. My dream is to become an artist. The streets were in a panicked riot as people tried to drive away almost as if it was rush hour in our small peaceful neibourhood. My eyes scanned my road looking for my family in their sweet dark blue mini.

"Nicola? Nicola! Come here quick now please!" Mum screamed for me to run for them in the safety of our car. Dad was driving looking anxious as we made our way up north. "We thought you left already. Your alarm had gone off before we left so we went to find you. Thank god we did." Joe exclaimed as i sat comfortably in the window seat.

" Mum what's going on?" Mum looked at dad with a pale fave which said enough. Danger. "There has been an infection spreading around like wildfire. As your dad is a doctor we can leave until they can get it into quarantine and make it safe for us to live back down there. Your father can elaborate on that." "What happened? Luke is only 5 he can't live in a place where there was an infection and what about me I'm 16 and Joe for god's sake mum. Joe may be 21 but he can't keep himself safe. That is my job!" I shouted with tears forming in my eyes. "Don't speak to your mother like that ever again Nicola" "I'm sorry dad"

Luke was silently sleeping in Joe's lap and his twiglike legs were lazily placed over mine. It reminded me of all our happy memories that we had whilst we were young. There might be years between us but we still loved each other and we still had fun despite our differences. I loved them and this 'infection' is not going to stop us.
