The wedding reception was held just past evening at the Vista hall of the hotel. Decorated in white and using lilies as the main flower arrangement, the wedding extended its theme from the ceremony earlier on.
While the bride and groom had the opportunity to rest while before the reception started, it wasn't the same for friends of theirs who were helping out, especially the bridesmaid and best man.
Nadine was flitting around in and out of the hall, holding a seating plan in her hands as she helped to usher all the invited guests into their respective seats. If she wasn't bringing people to their seats, she was standing just by the hall, greeting everyone who gave their well wishes and going over to a little table that was manned by Trisha and Tianny who helped recorded wedding gifts that people gave to assist wherever possible.
Best man James didn't have an easy time either, he split the load with Nadine and in addition was the one who was liaising with the hotel personnel regarding the event, whether they would start later and all depending on the punctuality of majority of the guests.
It was dead tiring and he swore he would make Bret his best man in future for that guy was gloating in a corner enjoying the free flow champagne and snacks that were complimentary of the hotel.
He gave up and went to the empty seat beside Henz, his shoulders were aching already.
"Weddings are no joke, seriously." He lamented to his friend.
"If you think this is bad, wait until you have your own wedding." Henz slighted him, "Which speaking of... are Nadine and you dating with the intention of marriage in mind?"
Marriage...
James looked up and searched for the subject in question. She was still walking around like a busy butterfly trying to make sure that everything was in place. In the simple white gown that she wore as a bridesmaid dress, she looked every inch a goddess.
His goddess.
The smile that tugged at the corners of his lips irked Henz so bad that he had to elbow him.
"Stop it, your love struck eyes. Do you want us to die from your cheesiness?"
"What's wrong? I'm a slave for Nadine Lustre." James stated as a matter of fact, "And regarding your question, yes, I do intend to marry her."
Knowing that she was the one for him was one thing but coming to terms with wanting to spend the rest of his life together with her was frankly speaking, enlightening.
The idea of really making her his wife never felt as real until he said it himself moments ago.
"... and love her, care for her, have children with her, grow old wit-"
"I got it ok?"
"Glad you got my point." He gave a solemn nod, "Now pardon me while I go find my wife."
Taking a glass of water and a small plate filled with finger sandwiches, James was by Nadine's side in record time.
"Love," he called, choosing to stand slightly diagonally from her.
"Yeah?" Nadine turned around, eyes reflecting surprise when she saw that it was him.
"Rest for a bit," he offered the glass to her, "here."
"Thanks," she smiled sweetly at him before gladly accepting the drink.
"Stop working so hard. This is not our wedding." James fed her one egg mayonnaise sandwich, her favorite.
