mi·rage
noun \mə-ˈräzh\
something that you hope for or want but that is not possible or real
"I need to go" she says as I tried to reach her, but failed to do so. Instead, my hands just touch each other. Touching through her. She's a real person to me but invisible to everyone else.
"No" I say and the salty tears are now running down my cheeks. I'm expecting that this day will really arrive. And it arrives.
"But I need to" she says
"No, dont" I pause and say "Please, stay. I love you" I finish which she cry. Salty tears are also running down to her rosy cheeks.
"You can't, Niall" she replies. "You're a human. A living person. Still breathing. And, i'm just a soul"
"I know" I surrender and drop to my knees, buried my face to my hands and cry the fucking hell out of me. She's right, I can't love her. I can't love a ghost.
I look up. She's just looking to me, now sniffling.
"Will we see each other again?" I say. Trying my best to deliver that question to her. Tears still blinding me while looking up on the girl that I can't love.
"I don't know" she says while shaking her head from left to right.
"I hope we'll see each other again"
"I hope so" she weakly smiles at me.
And I stand to meet her again.
I cup her cheeks, even though, I know she's a ghost and I know I can't have her. And then, I tilt my head and press my lips to her. Salty tears still streaming down my face as I kiss her very passionately. Our lips just press with each other, no lips moving and tongues involve.
But, i'm surprised, I can feel her. I don't know if i'm imagining things or going crazy. But, all I can say is I really can feel her presence.
Then, a heavy gust of wind starts to whistle inside the apartment, still our lips press with each other. And after it, a light shines upon her that makes me open my eyes and to pull apart from her and I become blinded by it.
"Bye" I can feel and hear her say it while the light shines on her.
"No! Please!" I scream while stretching my right arm to reach Ysabelle.
"I'm sorry,Niall" She pauses and continues "I love you too" she also declares her love for me but it's now a faint sound. Like, a man's voice already fading and moving away from you.
And with that, the light that's been blinding me disappeared. I was left there with salty tears mark on my cheeks and still sniffling and my apartment is very normal, like nothing surreal happened just seconds ago.
What happened awhile ago is like, Ysabelle is being brought by the wind that's passing through in a normal day. Like, a lightweight person. Well, she's not that because she's just a soul.
And there, she's gone, forever. I'm still bawling my eyes out because I thought I found the right girl for me. Yes, I found her but fate says I can't love that girl.
All just because, according to my friends, she's just a hallucination. A fragment of my imagination.
She's just a mirage.
She's my mirage.
