Chapter One
Matthew growled in frustration. The guys were working on their new record and they had it down to the last song. "God damn it." He said as he set the headphones on the microphone stand, "I can't get my voice to that octave." He sighed. "Is there any way that we could change that part?" He looked at Brian, who was working the controls and he shrugged.
"To be honest, man, I don't think so." Brian replied with a slight frown. Matthew walked out of the recording room and plopped onto the couch with Zacky, who had looked over at him and patted him on the shoulder.
Zacky scrunched his nose a little. "You'll get it right. Do you even do your vocal exercises at home like you're supposed to? You're getting a tad rough, bro." Matthew sighed and scratched his neck and looked down.
"Nah, man. I've been helping Val out with River. That kid is driving her up the wall and she hasn't gotten any sleep for a while." Matthew responded. Brian turned around in his chair and looked at Matthew.
"Dude, look. We have a deadline to reach. If we don't get this done in the time provided, we're screwed. Michelle can help Val with the baby. Everything will be fine. Now get your ass back in that room and let's get back on it." Brian said. Matthew rose to his feet and nodded.
"Yeah, yeah, you're right. We're gonna get this shit done. Even if it takes all night." Matthew said, walking into the recording room and he put the headphones back on.
Chapter Two
He got it. Hours later, Matthew had got it right, and he could go home. He hadn't been so excited to come home to see his wife and kid in a long time. He told the guys good night and walked out to his car. He looked at his watch and groaned. "Really? 12:30 in the morning.." He sighed, doubting his wife would still be awake. Valary never stayed up past 11:30. He started the ignition and pulled out of the studio parking lot. He drove down the street and stopped at a red light, mumbling. "Sometimes I wish I had never started Avenged in the first place..." He sighed and looked around, parking the car. It wasn't too busy. Matthew could just sit there and think for a few minutes.
"Matthew." A voice called. He looked over to the passenger seat to see a girl that looked like she was in her teens.
"Who the hell are you?" He jumped, trying to unbluckle his seat belt. Suddenly he couldn't move. He was frozen, completely unable to move any muscle in his body. She girl looked at him.
"I'm your guardian angel. Just call me Leda." She smiled big, her white teeth showing through the gap in her lips. Her hair was a turquoise color. A mix of blues and greens, while her clothes were regular clothes any other teenager wore, cut off band t-shirts and skinny jeans. Matthew was confused; bewildered.
"You're only a teenager. How the fuck did you get in my car?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Leda chuckled and smirked.
"I'm your guardian angel. Weird, right?" She smiled, her lips curling over her teeth to make it devious. "Anyways. I heard you wished you never created Avenged Sevenfold," She propped her feet on the dashboard, "So I'm here to show you what life would be like without it."
Matthew was speechless. Someone had heard him. He wondered what it would be like, not traveling around, not having the band. It was worth a shot, he thought. He looked at Leda, who crossed her arms.
"So.. What'll it be? You wanna see or not? I don't have all day to wait." She asked. Matthew pursed his lips and looked down, mumbling,
"I'll see what it's like. Just.. Don't make it last too long. I have a wife and kid to get home to." He replied.
"No problem. Time will be frozen, so when we arrive back to this year, it'll still be this time and you'll be fine." She shrugged and snapped her fingers, sending us back into the year 1999.
