A Moment Of Insight

I stared at Donnie with fear and something inside me told me that it was a dream, a nightmare and I would wake up soon. But it was not a dream. Donnie had turned his backs on us, slammed the door in our faces and also wanted to destroy us! Donnie, who regularly would not hurt a fly, unless he had to, had just caught us and turned against us! It was just something that was so unexpected, that we let Kraang win and take over the Earth! Or that Raph would act kind and polite for a whole day or something like that. And he had even turned Raph's words against him. Too good-hearted? Sure, he could sometimes be too good , but I would not say that his good heart was too big and that it was a bad thing that he was compassionate. If anything it was good he could be, very good. He saved April's dad, us from Metalhead, April and Pulverizer from exploding and much more. And here he was convinced that we were his enemies, and he would destroy us. I turned to my youngest brother, who had tears in his eyes and eyed our icy brother. Raph looked at Donnie with shock in his eyes.

"To be cold-hearted is nothing to be proud of! Believe me, it'll be the worst mistake of your life if you do it!" Donnie snorted and rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"Whatever., It's my choice, not yours, right?" He said with a small hint of frustration in his voice, and he looked just as heartless as any other enemies that we had ran into. This time, Mikey could not keep quiet.

"Are you g-going to kill us?" Donnie looked down at him with a mocking smile and shook his head in amusement. He liked to play with us like this, it was plain. Like a cat with a mouse.

"Of course not Mikey, I'm not a monster." Wait, what? But why had he froze us then? "I just like to scare you like this." Ah, that was it, he liked to see us scared. He waved his hand and waved it. As soon as he made the little gesture, the ice cracked and fell off us, even Karai, Rahzar and Fishface and we all fell from our positions and to the floor. But he stepped up for us and we looked up at him from his feet to his head. I had not realized how tall he was up to now and the all the coldness in the room came from him, and I could not help but shudder.

"But you might want to stay in my way, cause if I run into you again, I may not go so easy on you." He then went over to the middle of the room. But I still wanted to try to change his mind.

"But Donnie, you can't ..." I tried to say, but Donnie started screaming at me, just a few inches from my face.

"I can do whatever I want, I am Snow King! Snow and ice obeys me , and me alone, I'm tired of being nice, all my life I've done nothing else than trying to help others and take care of them and where has it gotten me? Nowhere!" I looked at him, shook and could not believe the words that came from his mouth.

"You, don't really believe that, do you?" I almost whispered out and it was a miracle that he heard me. But all he did for responding to my words was to snort and walked away from me. This time April tried to reason with him.

"Donnie, please. You don't have to do this, you can still come back to the lair, we can work this out and-" Donnie snorted and looked at her in almost (and I can't believe I'm saying this) loathing.

"And then what?, I'll go back to being the mistreated little handy man and scientist used only when needed? No-ho thank you sister, I will never return! Now, back off if you don't want to end up as an ice sculptor!" April didn't back off, she tried to touch his shoulder and looked him in the eye.

"Donnie, please-" Donnie jerked away from her hand and looked at her with more hatred than loathing this time and raised his hand and pointed at her.

"I will not be the weak one! Not anymore anyway! Just give up already, I will never give up my new power or go back to how it was. Donnie is gone forever." He said 'Donnie' as it filled the mouth with lemon juice and stepped a few steps back and looked out the window and around the room, it was covered with snow, ice and frost. He then started making other gestures with his hands, causing the snow to swirl around the room
