Chapter One

"Alright, ladies, listen up!" commanded Sergeant Adams. "I know you've been at boot camp for eight weeks, and you're ready to enlist, but there's still one more test for you before I can ship you off and never see your faces again. We've got 24 hours before the commander arrives to evaluate you, and I want each of you in your best positions!"

The sergeant was speaking to a group of about 50 young men. They were all equipped with camping supplies, because they had been told to pack up their things for one last trip before they could enlist in the army. The former troops were stationed at a training camp in Louisiana, and were about to be shipped off to Iraq to assist in the removal of the Taliban in the country's capital city. At the front of the line stood Cuttek, who was a lean, fit guy with German style hair and light blue eyes. He was 5'11 and was wearing camo pants with combat boots and a light green shirt. At his belt hung a large knife. No other weapons were assigned to the troopers because it was only a training session.  Next to him were his group of friends he had met at the beginning of training camp. Beside Cuttek stood Keegan, who was a mixed guy who was 6'0 and had was dressed like Cuttek. On Keegan's right stood Tarkus, who was a tall pale guy with dark brown hair, and full of muscle. Tarkus was 6'4 and had a large backpack with supplies, and a large knife similar to Cuttek's. Next to Tarkus was  Antonach, who was a tall dark boy with a nasty looking dagger at his side, and with camo pants, hat, and t-shirt. All in all, this was one of the most intimidating squads in the training camp. Even though they had known each other for only eight weeks, they had developed a close bond, brothers, one might say.

"Your mission is to make it through the jungle and back in 12 hours or less," continued Sergeant Adams. "You will receive no help on replenishing your supplies, unless you bail and shoot a signal flare. The winning squad will be evaluated first by the commander, and then you will find yourself on the first plane to Iraq. Good luck, ladies."
