First Patrol

A sunny Monday morning, the best in a while; it was going to be a good day. Officer Foley put his uniform on, looking carefully as he did so- he didn't want any stains on his shiny new brown uniform on the first day. Foley had just graduated from the academy, it was his first day. No supervisor with him, no partner, just him and his car. A year of training, and a lifetime of preparation, all leading up to today. He put on his boots and walked out to the car, a early 2000s Chevrolet Tahoe. It wasn't much, but it was his. He got in, checked his mirrors, and buckled his seatbelt. He was ready.


Foley pulled out of the driveway and onto the street. He saw his neighbor Andy standing outside mowing the lawn as he normally did early to beat the heat. The two waved at each other as Foley drove down the quiet rural street. Speed limit was 40, and he was sure to be just at it.
