Astrid. Origin: Danish. Meaning: Divine Strength.
She narrowed her eyes at me over the pages of her book, "Ashton. Do you ever get this weird feeling that we're not fully of this world. Like, what if we're all made out of stardust and energy? What if we're meant for something else?"
She always asked those types of questions. The ridiculous ones that somehow made you question your entire existence. But that was Astrid for you. She was the strangest person I ever knew. Her dark hair always rested in a braid on her shoulder and her amber eyes hid behind old school, horn-rimmed frames. She always had her sketchbook in her leather satchel along with her little notebook. People who didn't know her like I did accused her of being a stereotypical hipster, but they didn't know. They didn't know at all.
Eustace: Origin: English. Meaning: English form of Eustachius, a Latin form of the Greek name Ευσταχυς (Eustachys) meaning "fruitful"
"Astrid, you're full of shit sometimes." He laughed as he threw a wadded up paper ball at her. It hit her square in the forehead and she stuck her tongue out at him, "Prick. Can't you appreciate the notion that there are so many things we can't explain? So many ideas out there?" He crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, "You think too much. If we're all made out of star dust and shit, I'll become a friggin star when I die. But for now, I'm here and I'm human and that's enough for me."
Eustace...always had such a way with words. When he wasn't working on an art project, he was always insulting Astrid in some type of way. But that was their friendship - something close to brother/sister. Eustace and I go way back. In fact, we've known eachother since before either of us could walk. I guess he's the closest thing I have to a best friend.
Lilith: Origin: Hebrew. Meaning: Night monster. Storm goddess. In Jewish folklore, Lilith was a female demon and first wife of Adam.
"I hate to break it to ya, Astrid. But it's quite unlikely that we're composed of the same matter stars are. In fact, it's impossible." Lili quipped in her British accent. She shook her tossle of pixie-ish blond hair and closed her book, "And I have to agree with Eu. Why hope in so much for the future that you can't see? Why not live for the here and now - the tangible?"
Lilith was the smart one of us all. Straight A honor student who probably should have graduated by then. She wasn't just book smart, but also wise beyond her years. She had a motherly air about her and often kept the rest of us in line.
Who am I, you ask? My name is Faran. That is of Irish origin, like my family. It means "land". Nothing too exciting there, yeah? You're probably wondering how a group of us became so inseperable. It all started when Eustace and I pranked another friend, Lilith skipped class to study for another class, and Astrid punched someone in the face.
