What's an OC in the first place?
OC stands for 'Original Character' so it's pretty much self-explanatory.
Where is it used?
OC's are used in any genre of fanfiction: bands, music, youtubers, games, sports, creepy pasta, anime, books, etc.
When is it used?
It can be used at any time as long as it's necessary and goes along with your plot. It can be used for any duration too, throughout the entire story, on the sidelines, in a flashback, etc.
How is it used?
Well, there are many reasons. One is the author of the story might be acting out their own fantasies through the character （；￣ェ￣）<----- (most common reason)
ahem, it makes the story more interesting, and because you can use your own imagination :)
Why is it used?
To have fun!
