It wasn't long after George died, when Jon proposed to Barbara. He followed through to what George wanted him to do. And, yeah, he also was kind of falling for Barbara.
Jon did get better. He wasn't cooped up in his room with his music blasted all day. No, he would spend most of his days downstairs or outside with Barbara.
It was a clear, sunny day when Barbara & Jon were outside, having a nice little picnic in their own backyard. After a tiring day of cleaning the house, it was time for a little break.
Barbara laughed & sprawled out on the newly, fresh, cut grass. She layed there a while, staring up at the beautiful sky. She suddenly frowned & turned to Jon. "It's not fair you know. George isn't alive to see this."
Jon gave a weak smile & placed his hand on Barbara's stomach. "No, but we are. That's all that George wanted. He wants us to be happy. And... we are."
Barbara looked down at her stomach & smiled. She placed her hand on top of Jon's. "You know, whether this baby will be a boy or girl, I'm going to name it after George."
Jon leaned in to kiss her cheek. "I'm sure he would love that."
Barbara nodded & leaned in to cuddle with Jon. He took her into his arms & they sat there for a while until Barbara suddenly pulled away.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Jon asked.
Barbara was breathing hard & she clutched her stomach. She gazed up at Jon with a very serious expression. "I think my water just broke."
"Are you sure?" Jon asked.
Barbara hesitated a minute & then nodded. "Yeah, yeah I'm pretty sure. I mean, unless I peed myself, and, we both know I'm a grown ass woman & I certainly don't wet myself."
Jon couldn't help but laugh. Even when going into labor this woman still managed to make jokes. His laughter died as he quickly went into "Operation Soon-To-Be Dad Mode."
He quickly got up off the grass & lifted Barbara up & carried her as fast as he could to the car.
Barbara laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I'm not going to give birth until I'm in the hospital so please, for the sake of both of us, slow down before you drop me."
Jon struggled to open the passenger's side door & placed Barbara, carefully and gently, into the seat.
He slammed the door shut & raced inside to grab the keys.
He made sure the door was locked before he ran back to the car to get inside. He quickly yanked his buckle & cursed when he struggled to buckle it.
Barbara laughed so hard tears were forming. She placed her hand on Jon's arm. "Honey, please try to relax. I'm going to be okay." She said calmly.
Jon finally got it to buckle & turned to ignition. The car rumbled to life. He grabbed the steering wheel & nodded. "Okay, okay. I'm cool. Let's go."
He backed out of the driveway & made the trip to the hospital.

Jon paced the waiting room. Barbara was still in there. Why wasn't he in there? Yes, it would be very exciting to see a baby being born, especially the first, but he almost passed out.
Just then, George's mom, Dinah, and her daughter, Siobhan came rushing through the doors.
Jon relaxed a little at their arrival. He smiled & walked over to them to welcome them.
