Dang Wolf Story

I pick up the frosted leaf it was December and cold. It wasn't the leaf I was interested in. I was interested in the paw print under it. It was a wolf paw print. Someone didn't do a good job in covering their tracks. I flare my nostrils. If they went through here I would be able to smell them out. A small trace of a musky sent lingers around the small clearing in the woods around Avery, Minnesota. There was a stronger scent though. It was cologne.

I growl, they were being tracked by a human. I take off through the woods to try and find them. Avery's best tourist attraction was their wolves, but ten years ago those wolves moved. They went to the Northern Tribe to find someone. I now know they are back after ten years for the girl they left behind.

I am the human wolf. I was left behind. They left me here to rot for ten whole years. They took my adoptive parents, my best friend, and the whole dang pack with them. I didn't even get to say good by. They left me with Molly in the middle of the night during a full moon.

It was high time they paid for the hell they caused me. I was left. My pack rejected me. They wouldn't tell me that they were leaving. My Alpha, he packed everyone up and left. He didn't care about what I would feel. He left me, my six year old self asleep in her princess bed.

They forgot all about little old Shay. The forgot about the girl with short little pigtails. I press my arm against my face and wipe away my tears. Well, little Shay grew up. She was that girl that lives in the woods that wears funky clothes a size too small. I stifle a groan they were going to see me like this after ten years.

What would Carson think? Will he say, "It's been a long time, Shay." That's what I want him to say. Carson would have never left me alone if he had a choice. He remembers me as the girl wearing a mud smeared sundress and polka dotted rain boots. He remembers me never having my cheeks clean. They would always have dirt applied to them from that day's activity.

I remember the first time he Changed. He had done it in front of me. My best friend has suddenly become a vicious beast, a wolf. I screamed. I ran. I scrambled away from him. I crawled hurriedly away from him on my hands and knees. My sundress got caked in mud and I scuffed up my green with white polka dots rain boots.

I had to ask him for forgiveness. I begged him to forget the way I had reacted. He eventually came out of his room. He had locked himself in. He was covered in cuts he had inflicted on himself. He felt it was his fault that I was so scared. It was mine though I had seen people change many times already, but he had scared me. I never thought my friend could turn into such a feral beast.

He had been punishing himself for as long as I can remember. He once punched Cal, his older brother. Cal had gotten a black eye, so Carson gave himself a black eye. I told him to stop the nonsense of self-punishment but Carson never stopped. There was one thing he did stop though. He stopped me. He left with the rest of the pack. He left without saying goodbye to me, his best friend.

They didn't leave me all alone though. They left Molly the ranger of the forest with me. Molly was by blood a Werewolf but she never changed. She remained human. Molly took care of me for all of the ten years. Molly is my adoptive mother's sister. The whole pack thinks of Molly as a failure. She won't be able to mate with anyone. It would be taboo. Her own sister scoffs at her existence. Molly was there when I went through everything I don't even think of her sister as my mom. I was Molly's daughter.

I wrap my arms around myself as I run through the forest. I was wearing a back leather half jacket. A blood red tube shirt barely covers to the rim of my pants. Knee high black leather Army Boots are over my grey skinny jeans. I wasn't the same girl, but I still had pigtails.

My hair wasn't blond anymore. It was dyed black with red highlights. I looked the part of that punk that works at the only diner in town. I was really different and now the whole pack would know.

I race to Molly's house. I slam open the door of the large Mansion that has enough rooms to house all of the wolves. And it did. Every wolf had a place. I had a place, it was an add on to the house. It was on supporters and attached to a giant pine with a walk around porch. It was my present because I was left without my family. It was perfect for me.

All of my family turns to face me. I glare at every last one of them in return. I pick my way through the common room. I growl at several people as I stride past. I walk to the announcement podium in the back of the room. This was where the Alpha used to give Pack meetings before they all left.

I hike one booted foot up onto the stage and heave myself up. I got to the control panel and flip on the mike. I then stride up to the actual podium. I take the mike into my hands and tap it. Every person frowns and covers their ears because of the high pitched squeal it gives out.

I smile at their pain. They deserved more than this though. I open my mouth, a devilish grin spreading across my red painted lips. "Hey." The all glare at me. I knew what the were thinking, it was something along the lines of, "Is that it?"

"It's Shay. You know, your little human." I sneer. They all stare up at me surprised. Ya, I'm not that recognizable. I smirk at them ready for the next few words.

"You are all a bunch of mangy, little, mutts!!" I screech into the microphone. "I can't believe you little dogs!! You leave for ten freaking years!! I'm sixteen now you furry freaks!! You left me in this lonely, huge house with, God bless this Saint, Molly!!!" I scream at them. They all gape up at me. I stifle a giggle at their stupid reactions.

"Do you know how it feels when both your parents die? Do you know what it feels like being a human in a Pack of hard headed wolves that adopted you? Do you know what it feels like when they leave without telling you they are leaving? Do you know what it feels like when your FAMILY is gone for ten whole years?! It sucks!!" I hiss into the mike.

I laugh at their surprised faces. It was high time they felt what I felt. I hear quick foot steps and Molly hops onto the platform. I glare at her. She was without a doubt beautiful. Her had raven hair and shockingly deep brown eyes. I smile at her. She knew I wanted to say that for a long time. But Molly didn't come and slap me on the back with words of congrats. She grabs the mike and hits me with it.

"You bloody idiot!!" she snaps. I glare at her, she had walked in and ruined my revenge with one hit of a microphone.

"And this is the human you've been waiting to meet." my Alpha growls from between his teeth. I turn to him a sheepish smile planted on my face. I did not know he was here. And it seems he has a guest.

My Alpha, Is a strict man in his thirties. I used to be deathly afraid of him. Now I was more afraid of Molly PMSing. You know how girls get. It's just awesome. I lean over the edge of the stage and smirk straight into James' face. James being my Alpha. It was a joy to see his desolate grey eyes. My voice is dripping with sarcasm, trust me. He runs a hand through his spiked brown hair, which now has grey flecks in it. He pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs.

"You are the same as ever. A very defiant Shay." He huffs out in an exasperated sigh. I giggle at him, so he did remember me. I lift my eyebrows and nod my head in the direction of the guest.

"This is the Alpha of the Tribe to the North." he nods in a aged man's direction. I glare at him. He was from the Northern Tribe which means he was the one who stole me from my family for ten years. The man looked to be on his last string. He had laugh lines around his eyes but he was worn and tired with bags and sags all along his tanned face. His hair is grey going on white.

"Nice to meet you." He politely addresses me. I show him the best disrespect and roll my eyes away from him. I see James stiffen with rage. I stifle a smirk. I breath in through my nose to test the air. It smelt of the cologne and the smell was getting stronger. I wrinkle my nose and the scent. I scratch at my face.

I see my Alpha wrinkle his own nose and the Northern Alpha stiffen. The Northern Alpha turns when I hear the call of a boy my age. "Hey Dad!! Can we go home yet?!" an annoying person speaks. I turn to see a fit boy pushing his way through my Pack. He growls under his breath something that sounds like, group of unmannered animals. I let a low growl slink out from deep in my throat. I could see myself killing this really, actually, very good smelling boy. Figuratively.
