The sand was chilled and the sun was going down. The water was calm except for the few people on jet-skis that made waves. The sky was a golden orange color. The fire was high and the seniors had music playing out of speakers about half the size of me. The volleyball nets were up and a game was just ending and beginning again. Everyone was running to see their friend that are not living in the same building anymore. I saw my two cousins who are seniors but we aren't close so I do nothing more then smile towards them.
"Hey want to play some volleyball?" Dylan asks
"Yeah of course!" I get excited since Dylan and I were champions last year.
Me, Dylan and the rest of the crew run over to the volleyball nets to play. My team was me, Dylan, Taylor, and Mae against Tanner, Quentin, Paris, and Zach.
We began with Taylor's awful serve but still win the game by a bunch of points. Dylan and I are happy to be the two time winning champions. A name we gave ourselves that greatly exaggerates our win. Its around 9 and the sun is going down. The music gets louder the seniors get more excited. More people begin to dance. More freshman begin to socialize. More people in line for the jet-skis. Everyone is having a great time. Tanner and Paris are in the large crowd around the bonfire talking to some old friends. Taylor and Mae went off with the other freshman trying to make a friend group as big as close as ours. Zach is with seniors holding a red cup with strawberry Smirnoff mixed with sprite. Dylan is following after him. Which leaves me and Quentin. After spending the whole day with him, I have grown tired of his not so happy attitude and not being able to talk to me.
I go over to the jet-ski line because there are some cute guys and its my only chance without Zach keeping them away from me. I get over there and they seem to know me.
"Did you and Quentin hook up?" One of them asked
"No. Why do you think that?" And then I realized why these guys were familiar, I saw them at the gym earlier lifting weights with Quentin.
"Cause after you left Quentin left too and he had your jersey. He said he would be back but I still haven't seen him. So we know you guys had sex"
"What the hell. No we didn't. I haven't seen him since the beginning of this bonfire." I answered Did Quentin tell them that we hooked up. I turn around to where I last saw Quentin and he was looking over at me but talking to Kieron and trying to get Zach to put his cup down.
"Oh, I get it. You're a prude. Little goody-goody. What a killjoy." one of the guys said to make the others laugh.
"Really? Is that what you think? You guys are all dickheads anyway. At least Quentin has a chance with a girl." I say before storming off and straight towards Quentin.
When I reach him he seems concerned but I pull him out of the crowd and look back to see if the other guys saw and planted my lips on Quentin's just to prove a point. Quentin was shocked and didn't expect it but began to kiss back and I pulled away and gave the middle finger to the other guys on the dock.
"Sorry Quentin. Your friends are dicks. I'm going to the dorm." I say fine at first but then felt my eyes watering and felt a burning tear leak down my cheek. "I'm so sorry" I mutter before running to the short trail back to building B.
Thankfully all the students are at the bonfire so nobody can see me cry. I try to hide my face anyway by looking down. I was about to open the door to the building before somebody grabbed my hand.
