*Chapter 47* - Is he trustworthy?

*Matthews P.O.V.*

I let out another peevishly growl, and fight the chains to get loose so I can save my mate. But then I notice that Clarina just are staring at Ronald, but without fear. I look surprisingly back at Ronald and discover he just look at Clarina with a friendly smile, before he slowly squats down in front of her and lovingly stroking her cheek, which once again make me growl, I don't want him touching my mate. And that my mate just keeps starring at him like he have her completely hypnotized, doesn't make me feel any better. Then Ronald look over at me again, and smile, this time not a smirk, but a real smile, and said.

"You don't have to worry, I'm not going to touch you mate. But we have to get you two out of here before tomorrow. Clarina will not could maintain her defense. You know how close you pack is? I notice you talking to one of them earlier"

I looked at him surprised. Before I let relief wash over me, this guy want to help us, not taking advance of Clarina.

"I don't know where they are in relation to us, since I don't know where we are."

I got interrupted, by Ronald.

"We are about 30 miles east from your packs border, so tell them, so they can meet us, 'cause we have to get out of here, like right now."

He said in a strained voice before he took a form of tool out of his pocket, and cut Clarina' chains before he came over to me and was going to cut mine too, but before he did, he paused, and looked in at me.

"Can I trust that your wolf don't attack me as soon as I let you go?"

I stared back at him, I knew he wasn't wrong, Mathieu was still not happy that this promotion rough was near our mate, but when I glanced at Clarina who look at me with pleading eyes, and that Ronald had freed her without exploiting her as he had every opportunity to, made me take a deep calming breath before I looked back at him and nodded.

"I promise that I will keep Mathieu in check, but you have to take precautions, none of us are happy that you are near our mate, and to be honest none of us rely on you 100%."

I admit. Ronald stared at me before he nodded.

"It is understandable that trust is something you earn, and I know I haven't done anything to deserve yours yet. And I realize that I'm a rough not exactly help it, but if it help, I chose to leave my pack , because they couldn't accept who I was, and I have done nothing to hurt or beat other weres or killed anybody. The only reason I am here is that I came across Steffanie , and she was looking for to collect as many roughs as possible and therefore tried to seduce me to come here and although she probably has convinced herself that it was her seductive behavior that convinced me, then the only thing that convinced me, was that she had an irresistible scent with her, not prominent so she has not been in close contact with whoever has the scent, but enough to make my wolf went crazy and told me that it must mean that my mate knew her. Therefore, I thanked yes. I quickly realized that I couldn't be a part of what they were doing, even if my mate was part of it, so I would go disappear, but when they came dragging with Clarina, and I so what they did to her, I couldn't bring myself to leave her."

He said before he cut my chains, it must really be quite some tools he had , since it could just cut right through the heavy chains that not even my wolvesstrength could destroy. But I breathed a sigh of relief, before I quickly got up and pulled Clarina into my arms and buried my nose in her hair and inhaling her scent, which calmed Mathieu enough that I could relax a little. I pull her closer to me and whispered to her.

"Are you okay little kitten?"

I asked before I pulled back a little to look close at her, she nodded smiling.
