Kakashi stared at them from beneath his headband. "All three of you should quit as ninjas"

"What is it that you want to ask that you'd invite me to lunch?" the hokage asked Iruka.

"The jounin for Naruto's team." Iruka started nervously "What kind of sensei is he? Is he strict?"

"Kakashi.." the Hokage murmured "You're worried?" he asked Iruka louder. "Here" he said handing him a book. "Her's the list of his past students and their records"

Iruka opened the book 'This..This is!!!'

Back with Kakashi and the kids.

"Quit as ninjas?" Naruto shouted "What does that mean? Okay so we couldn't get the bells but.. Why do we have to quit?"

"Because all of you are just punks who don't deserve to be ninjas" Kakashi replied.

Sasuke scowled, gritted his teeth and lunged ta Kakashi.

"Ah"

"Sasuke-kun"

In a second Sasuke was on the ground Kakashi sat on him pinning his arm to his back. "That's why you're a punk"

"No don't step on Sasuke-kun" Sakura screeched

!Are you guys underestimating ninjas?" He asked them "Why do you think you were divided into teams and are doing this training"

"Huh" Sakura asked "What does he mean?"

"Basically you guys are not understanding the answer to this test"

"Answer?" Naruto asked dumbly

"Yes. The answer that helps you pass this test"

"So" Sakura began "When are you going to tell us?"

Kakashi signed at them.

"Damn it what's the answer already?" Naruto demanded

Kakashi glared at them with his one eye "Teamwork". All 3 of them looked shocked. "The three of you working together may have gotten the bells."

'Hey wait a second' Sakura thought."What do you mean by teamwork?There are only two bells" she shouted ta him "Even if we work together and get the bells one of us would still fail. What teamwork? That just makes us fight each other"

Kakashi looked at her as if she was stupid "Of course. This test is purposely set up to make you fight amongst yourselves"

"Huh"

"The purpose is to see whether you can forget about your own interests and successfully work together under these designed circumstances. Yet you guys.." Kakashi trailed of looking at Sakura "Sakura instead of Naruto who was right next to you, you were only thinking about Sasuke who was far away." turning to Naruto "Naruto you were just running around by yourself" looking down at the boy he was sat on "Sasuke you just assumed the other's would get in your way and tried to do everything yourself." addressing all three again he said "The duties are done by the team. Of course superior individual ability is important to a ninja but what's even more important is teamwork"

Placing his hand in his pocket Kakashi pulled out a kunai. "Individual play that disrupts the team can put your comrades in danger and even get you killed. For example" he said placing the kunai at Sasuke's neck. "Sakura kill Naruto or Sasuke dies"

"What" the other two shouted

"You see?" he said getting of Sasuke "if a hostage is taken you will have tough choices and die. You will be risking your lives in these duties. Look at this." Kakashi said pointing to a stone tablet. "These are ninjas who have been recognised as heroes of the village." Before Naruto could say anything he added "But they aren't just normal heroes. They are all heroes who died while on duty" All three of the kids turned solemn.

"This is a memorial." Kakashi said tracing over a name. "My best friend's name is also carved here"

Turning around to face them Kakashi continued "You guys... I'll give you one more chance. But after lunch i'll make it even tougher to get the bells. Those who still wish to challenge can eat lunch. But don't give Naruto any"

"Huh?" Naruto said

"It's punishment for trying to eat by yourself. If anyone gives her food they will fail immediately" Kakashi said darkly "i am the rules here got it?" he then proceeded to jump into the tress out of sight.

As lunch started Naruto's stomach started growling. Sasuke looked at her. He sighed. "Here" he pointed his lunch in Naruto's direction.

"But Sasuke-kun sensei just said ..." Sakura started however Sasuke cut her of.

"Don't worry. I don't sense him near here. After lunch we'll work together and get the bells. Without food she'll just be in the way and that will only hurt us"

Naruto blushed. Sakura thought this over and also offered her lunch. "Thanks" Naruto said.

Back with Iruka and the hokage.

"No way" Iruka said

"Kakashi's test might be a little too difficult since children are obedient" the hokage said thoughtfully

"Yeah but.." Iruka looked at him horrified "This is all Zeros"

"Yup Kakashi has never passed anyone. They all failed"

Back in the clearing a large smoke burst surrounded the kids. 

"What's this"

"YOU GUYS" Kakashi shouted scaring Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto. "pass" he said gently. All three looked at him stupidly. Naruto tipped her head to the side cutely and said "Huh"

Sakura was the first to recover. "Pass? But why?"

"you guys are the first" Kakashi explained "Everyone else would just do whatever i told them. They were all just morons" Kakashi looked at them smiling "A ninja must see underneath the underneath. Those who break the rules and codes of the ninja world are called trash But you know what?2 Kakashi said thoughtfully "Those who don't take care of their comrades are lower than trash"

Naruto looked at him in awe.

"This ends the training. All of you pass" Kakashi said with a thumbs up "Starting tomorrow team 7 will begin it's duties"

"Yay" Naruto said happily "We did it"

"Let's go" Kakashi said as he Sakura and Sasuke walked away.

"God damn it" Naruto said to herself "I knew this would happen" as she struggled to untie herself. Finally getting herself free she looked over at the memorial. 'I'm one step closer to becoming the hokage' she thought to herself smiling gently as the wind blew her hair around her softly.
