Viper Strike stared up at the stars in the night. She had to wonder what was so interesting about them to Wolf Fur. He seemed just as obsessed with The Ancestors as much as Pigeon Talon was. "Just a bunch of stars.." she muttered. Her father, Weasel Spot tapped his tail to her muzzle. "Hush. We respect the cats of the stars. They showed us the way here." He reminded her gently. She remembered the journey her family and groupmates had made from the mountains to here, where they resided in now.
"I bet one of those stars is Stone Storm.. he loved to look at the sky.." Misty Tail meowed. "I hope Stone Storm can see us." Her and Wolf Fur's mother had taken the loss of her brother really hard.
"Eagle's Speck named her kits. She named the gray toms Stone Frost and Hawk's Cry and Curly Branch for the tortoiseshell she-cat." Deer Snout meowed to Leaping Breeze.
"Wonderful!" The van pelted she-cat purred. Wolf Fur stared up at the sky. He blinked. Viper Strike eyed her brother. "Getting a good view I see?" She mewed to her littermate. "The stars are lovely." He meowed simply. The night she caught that snake made her purr to herself with glee as she looked back on it. She had kept it as a trophy on top of a stump. Fish Scar saw Running Fern pad in with Dapple Spots, Speckle Leap, Gray Sky, and Little Ear with prey.
"Good job you all." He mewed approvingly. "We're going to have prey for days! Thanks to Speckle Leap and Gorse Feather's hunting skills in the forest." Dapple Spots purred. The two she-cats only smiled in answer. The two seemed to love their new groupmates. Fish Scar purred to himself at Dapple Spot's goofy smile and kind purrs whenever he was around Gorse Feather at times.
"Those two are going to be a little tricky to get separated." Pigeon Talon flicked her tail to Gray Sky and Deer Snout, resting together under a bush.
"Dapple Spots and Gorse Feather as well. But keep them together, bonds will last forever." The mackerel tabby mewed.
"Quite right." The lilac tabby agreed. The place seemed peaceful. Cats dozing and eating without a care. Three kits born into the group. Wolf Fur looked around almost calmingly bored. "I wonder what tomorrow holds." He mewed.
"If you keep talking all of this, you'll regret it young one." Bright Wind rasped. The tom did not reply, only stare up at the stars.Wolf Fur tore after a rabbit. He leaped and killed it with a swift bite. Victory surged through him.
"Nice catch there son." Weasel Spot purred. Viper Strike had a mouse in her jaws. "Both of you are turning to be fine hunters." He purred. The two siblings smiled at each other, eyes shining.
"We both know who's going to be the best." Viper Stroke meowed. Wolf Fur said nothing and his tail twitched. He walked with his rabbit in his jaws. The ginger tabby she-cat followed after him. They returned to camp to see everything peaceful and quiet. Fish Scar was surveying the camp closely. He was taking to position as leader of the group well so far. "Fish Scar, Gorse Feather and Speckle Leap showed us some new fighting techniques!" Silver Leaf meowed eagerly.
"Interesting. Let me see." The tabby mewed. The tabby she-cat drew over. She and Dapple Spots began to mock fight. The tabby brought her paw down gently on the tom's head. He fell and went limp. After a heartbeat, he pushed himself up and landed on too of her.
"That's really good!" Fish Scar purred. The two cats smiled at him, a gleam in their eyes. Light Mist ran in with Misty Tail by her side. "Help! I-it's Misty Tail! Hurry!" She yowled. The gray she-cat was coughing and hacking. Pigeon Talon ran over. "Bring her to my den and quickly." She ordered. The pale gray she-cat obeyed and did as the she-cat said. Misty Tail was coughing again.
"Mom?" Viper Strike tried to go near her but Bright Wind held her back.
"Can you do something about this?" Weasel Spot asked with worry.
"I'll see what I can do." She mewed. Misty Tail coughed up a bit of blood.
"Oh ancestors help me.." Pigeon Tail murmured. Wolf Fur trembled, a frown on his face. He pressed close to his father. "Mom's going to be fine right dad?" He asked him. But he said nothing only staring at his mate and mother of his kits in Pigeon Talon's den. The coughing suddenly stopped.
Weasel Spot bounded over to her. His eyes wide in desperation for an answer from her as to whether or not his mate was alright but the lilac she-cat shook her head in response as she said nothing.
