Adrenaline. It pumps in my veins everytime I stand on top of the slope, my feet strapped to the board. My thoughts empty. Concentration and adrenaline are the keys to do well in my situation. I feel as though snow was created for people like myself to spend every waking day in. Each snowflake that hits the ground makes it easier for me to glide across on my board. Snowboarder. That's what I am. A professional one, if I may add, a professional girl snowboarder that competes against boys. How is that possible, you may ask. Well, it's just like if a girl plays football or baseball.
Everybody tells me that everyone has a purpose on this earth, that God has some sort of special plan for you to fullfill, and I guess my purpose is to show the world that girls can do anything guys can do. It's a purpose worth fullfilling, if you ask me.
At all my competitions, the guys are always determined to beat me. My biggest competetors are Shaun White and Tony Hawk. It's common for me to hear everyone gossip about me, especially White and Hawk who hate the idea of a girl competiting in the guys division. I think it's pretty funny to see them squirm about..me.
It's always the same questions when I get interviewed. "Why do you compete in the boys division?" " Are you scared competing against all these boys?" " What's the reasoning behind your unusual choice of competing against boys?" It's never.."What's your family like?" "Who's your biggest inspiration?" "What do you love the most about snowboarding and skateboarding?" Just the same old stupid questions being asked over and over again which I always give the same answer too.."Because I feel that it's my duty to show the world what girls can really do." "No, I'm never scared of competing against the boys. I love the feeling of the adreneline pumping through my veins." "There's really no reasoning, it's all just to show that there is so much more to a girl than just whinning and complaining about losing something like a softball game. I feel like a snow angel."
