"Spring. The season where everything comes back to life and you can appreciate the beauty of life, But most people prefer fall. The season where life begins to die and go into a dormant slumber until spring shows up again. Both are beautiful. Both make earth a living canvas."

"Alexia, that was beautiful. Are you coming up with a poem?"

Alexia looked up at the older woman. Her brunet hair slowly becoming more grey each day she see's her.

" Dr. Farias,  do you even care for your patients? Or do you just enjoy stealing money from sick people while you listen to their problems but do nothing to help?"

Dr. Farias stopped writing in her journal and studied Alexia's face, she sighed and placed her journal beside her lap.

"Alexia. I care more for you and my other patients than you can ever imagine, I am here to help you. But for me to help you, I have to figure out when it started... so please... relax and tell me about the day every thing changed. Now from what I've read in your file-"

Alexia scoffed,

"My file? that file is full of shit."

Dr. Farias continued to grab her file and ignore Alexia's snide comment.

"What I've read Alexia, is that you were working as a waitress at Avalon JoAnne's which was close to your apartment complex. You were also aspiring to be an artist, you then one day got new neighbors; Anna and Henry Corbel, is that correct?"

An image crossed Alexia's mind, it was Anna Corbel and her fancy jewelry that was draped all over her. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds complimented her fair skin, raven hair, and piercing green eyes that matched her emerald earrings. Nothing compared to Anna Corbel, she was enchanting. And always beside her was her husband Henry who looked like a hero you'd picture in books. His soft blonde hair and blue eyes would make any woman weak, and his pale skin made each of his tattoos stand out as if it was freshly done. They were beautiful people, but they were too beautiful and perfect.

"Yes."

"And it's correct that Mr. Corbel raped you and then they both abducted you when you found out that you were pregnant?"

Alexia's hair on her neck rose,

"No. Henry wasn't the one.."

"But they did abduct you?"

"No."

"It states in your file, that Henry Corbel admitted to raping and impregnating you. And then he and his wife locked you in their apartment room for a year."

"Like I said, the file is shit. And so is he."

"Henry Corbel admitted to-"

"HE LIED! okay?! He lied. That was not what happened at all."

Dr. Farias gave another sigh and scooched closer to Alexia, her strong perfume was starting to give Alexia a headache.

"I know that this is something you don't want to remember, but it isn't healthy for you to contort the truth and make a guilty man who harmed you innocent. He admitted to the things he did to you Alexia, it's okay. He isn't here to harm you anymore, you're safe."

Safe. Alexia had heard that word one too many times in the past year.

It's safe to drink this, it's for the baby

You and your baby are safe as long as you stay here

It's more safe if you were to-

Stay here, keep the baby safe

We will keep your baby safe

You're safe

SAFE

What a lie. One person can never truly be safe. That word is just to comfort the oblivious people.

"Is one ever truly safe doctor? I don't think so, that's the worst lie someone can tell you. You're safe. I've been seeing you for three weeks doctor. And every day you do the same thing, expecting me to give in to the lies that Henry Corbel is the father of my child, and every day I tell you that it's all a lie. But you don't believe me, you don't even want to help me. You just want to brainwash me into believing all this bullshit. We're done here."

Alexia grabbed her purse and began to walk out of her office,

"Wait!"

Dr. Farias quickly got up with her folder and stopped Alexia before she made it to the door.

"I'm here to help you, and obviously you believe something else happened. Would you care to tell me? I'm here to listen, and give you the best guidance. I have yet failed one of my patients. Please Alexia, give me another chance to help you. What truly happened to you?"

Alexia scoffed.

"Doctor... you wouldn't believe a single word of the truth even if I did want to tell you now. Believe me, there are times that I doubt it.. but I know the truth, and I guess no one will ever know the truth of me, the Corbels, or my child..."

Alexia walked past Dr. Farias and left her office, but she turned around before leaving for good and looked at Dr. Farias,

" I guess I appreciate your efforts in trying to help me, but you see you have to understand that you can't save me.... I'm already damned for eternity."
