She walked down the castle corridor listening to the click of her heels and the swish of her dress. Being a princess, she thought, is very hard at times. Her father made her finalize the courtyards new design after lunch, and then had her go over the new ballroom plans with his advisor after dinner. She understood he wanted her to be more responsible but she just wanted to be like any normal girl in the neighboring village. Her childhood friend Adalicia, who was a nobles daughter, always talked about life outside the castle walls. Sometimes Elizabeth would get jealous that Adalicia could leave the castle and she couldn't. Everything she would bring it up to her father he would tell her, "My sweet beautiful princess, you are not ready to leave the castle walls. But if you really want to I will accompany you." And he did, almost every time she wanted to leave he went with her. Those few memory's that she had, to her, were the best even if it wasn't every time. Elizabeth got caught up in her thoughts and ran into something hard.

"Elizabeth?", said a deep voice. "What are you doing out this late? Shouldn't you be in bed?"

She looked toward the voice and saw Alexander. A boy worked at the castle as a servant, and a boy who she absolutely adored even though she couldn't have him.

"I'm so sorry," her voice rung like tiny bells in the quite hallway. "Alexander, I told you that you shouldn't address me so informally. If someone was to hear you..."

"Ah, but they won't. As you can see there is no one around to hear us. We. Are. All. Alone." He punctuated each word trying to drop a hint.

"Alexander no!" She was blushing profusely. "I will be disgraced, and you could lose your head."

He looked away with a disappointed look on his face. "I understand. I am sorry for bothering you Princess." He turned on his heel and walked the other way. In a way she was happy that he was gone, but then again she felt bad about saying no all the time. He makes her heart swell with love, but because of him being a servant she could not be with him.

She finally reached her room and her maids rushed to get her out of her gown in a timely fashion. "How was the meeting Miss?" The new one asked.

"It was fine Jane. I'm just tired can you guys just hurry up."

"Yes ma'am." They all said in unison. In total she had three maids. Ali was the oldest one out of the three. Ali has been taking care of her since she was a little girl. Ashley was the second oldest, she arrived around the time Elizabeth's mother passed away. And then there was Jane, who was interested in Alexander, she has only been there for four months.

After putting on her nightgown and taking down her hair they excused themselves and backed out of the room. Again Elizabeth was left alone with her thoughts. She thought about Alexander, her father, and the plans she went through today. She was overwhelmed thinking about everything. In her unease she drifted off into a deep sleep.

She woke to her maids and her father's advisor opening the curtains to her room. "Good morning Miss. Breakfast is in 30 minutes and then after breakfast your father wants you in his study. You have the afternoon to your self until 1, afterwards you will be having lunch with your father around 1:30 until 3. At 3 you are expected to be down in the ballroom for your dance lessons. At 4:30 you have piano lessons, and at 6 is dinner. After dinner you have more plans to go through and after that you are allowed to go back up here and do whatever it is that you do." The advisor said in a hurry. Elizabeth didn't know why her father's advisor even tried. She knew she wasn't going to go to go to dance lessons. Her father is always saying how she was a natural.

"Princess, are you even listening?" Taylor, her father's advisor, asked irrated.

"Sorry Taylor, yes I am listening. Breakfast in 30 minutes, afternoons to myself until 1. Lunch with my father at 1:30 to 3. At 3 I have dance lessons, which by the way I do not need. 4:30 is my piano lessons and at 6 is dinner."

"You forgot the plans you have to go through after dinner."

"Believe me, I have not forgotten. Every day for the past month I have had plans to go through. I am glad I have none after lunch."

"Yes, your father gave you the afternoon off because of how busy he has kept you this past month."

After he said that he turned and left the room. Okay, she thought, someone's a bit busy today and rude too.

"Miss, would you like the dark blue day dress or the light blue one that brings out your blue eyes?"

"Light blue please." She said. She busied herself with reading her book while they did her hair and makeup. After they were done with her hair she stood up and they carefully pulled her dress on and buttoned up her bodice. After stepping in the shoes she thanked all three and left the room to get the day started.
