"Wake up Gisselle!!!"
"What do you want Lisbeth?"
"It's reaping day we have to get ready."my little sister says with a sad smile
"Oh yeah I forgot..."
I roll out of my bed and head out to our small restroom. I look in the mirror and look at myself. I see dark reddish brown hair and bright hazel green eyes. people tell me I'm beautiful but I don't really believe it.
I take a shower and comb out the nots of my long wavy hair.
When I go back into the room I find a brown leather dress and a matching pair of flats. I find the outfit absolutely gorgeous. I dress into it quickly and tie my hair back with light pink ribbons in two loose pigtails.
As I walk into the kitchen my mom gasps. "Gisselle you look beautiful honey" she says smiling.
"Thanks mom"
We eat a small breakfast scrambled eggs and ham.
Food we grow in our farm. My parents own the third largest farm in all of district 10 so we've almost always had enough to live a decent living.
"Mom, what if sis gets picked?" Lisbeth my 10 year old sister asks.
"I won't get picked don't worry this is my third year." I respond to her.
What would happen if I get chosen though? the thought makes me shiver.
We walk out of the house and down to the square where all the district gathers for the reaping. I register and walk to the other 15 year olds. I find my only friend, Sky and wave to her. she gives me a nervous smile as I walk towards her.
"You nervous?" She asks me her silver eyes questioning
"Not really. just a little" I reply my voice a little shaky towards the end.
Poinsettia our escort from the capital walks out to the stage.
"Welcome, welcome to the reaping of this years games. now for a little message from the capitol.
This really stupid video we all know by heart goes on for the next few minutes.
Once it's over I look to sky and catch her biting her nails.
"As always ladies first" poinsettia says her spiky red hair point in our in every which way.
"Gisselle Rider" she says her voice booming through out the whole square.
I look over to sky and she is crying.
"Don't worry I'll be fine sweetie" I tell her giving her a hug though I don't trust my words much either.
She nods sobbing and cursing at the capital under her breath.
As I walk up to the stage I see my sister fainted and my mother looks like she's about to slap the living out of Poinsettia. my father stands like a rock holding them both a single tear running down his cheek.
I walk up the stage and look up at the clouds to prevent me from screaming and crying. I must be strong. poinsettia calls the guy tribute which I've never seen and we shake hands. before were escorted I see sky crouch down and curl up and hear her scream
