//: Hey guys!!! My play is this week and if you didn't know, I'm portraying Babette in Beauty and the Beast! Please suggest some songs for me to listen to while getting ready (any song you like, or songs that remind you of Babette)! Thanks!!!

Ready to return to the tavern once more, Babette frowned at her costume choice (the same maid costume as always), but pushed her self-consciousness aside. She made her way to the tavern she knew so well and walked in just as shy as before.

"Babette" she thought to herself, "this isn't how you make friends: standing to the side of the room by yourself."

Now slightly more confident, Babette walked into the room. This time she did not look for Gaston; she sat right down at a table filled with men and the three girls she had seen earlier, each with a different colored dress.

"Bonjour," she greeted the others, "I am Babette."

"Are you the girl Gaston's been talking about? I'm Paulette," the girl in the green said, holding out a hand to shake.

"You're really pretty! No wonder he likes you. Claudette," the red one mentioned, shaking my hand as well.

"We used to have a thing for Gaston, but we've moved on with other guys... well never fully moved on but still. I'm Laurette," the one in yellow explained.

"My... so many names," Babette whispered overwhelmed, "it's nice to meet all of you though!"

The girls immediately stared at Babette. She looked around, confused, but then realized they were staring at Gaston, who appeared behind her. "Babette," he sighed happily with a smile on his face, "I'm so happy to see you here again."

Babette felt a light flush on her cheeks but chose to ignore it. "Oui, it's nice to see you too." He offered her his arm and she took it, waving goodbye to her new friends.

This time Gaston took her over to the bar. "Two drinks please!" He ordered. Babette glanced down at her mug, which had his face on it and giggled to herself. "Looks like someone has a big ego." She muttered to herself. Gaston didn't seem to catch it.

A few drinks later Babette had become far more relaxed. She felt able to open up more to her friends and everything. "So what happened with this other guy? There must've been another guy. You're so beautiful it'd be a shame if nobody took you," Gaston asked, sitting in his chair. This time Babette sat in a chair across from him.

"Ah, he wasn't who I thought he was. First impressions are important, and you think you know someone, but he wasn't being truthful..." she tried to explain without giving much information away.

"That's terrible. And you plan to return back to the town where he is?"

"I don't know. Perhaps," she answered uncertainly. She could imagine a life here with her new friends and dreaded reuniting with Lumiere.

"Well that's too bad," Gaston responded, waving a hand and getting another round of drinks for the two.

They sat there in silence for a while, enjoying their drinks, until Babette spoke up. "Gaston?"

"Yes?" He answered immediately.

"I'm kind of tired. I think I should be going..."

"Why don't you stay here? Just for the night. I'd hate to see any wolf come past your way, and your cottage is a rather long walk," he offered.

She took another drink from her mug and shrugged. "Okay, but let me sleep on the couch. I'd feel horrible displacing you once more."

"Definitely not. I insist you take the bed. You're my guest."

"Well if you won't give in then we'll just share the bed," she replied boldly, not fully realizing what she had implied. "Just so you don't have to change anything up," she explained meekly.

"I suppose. Here let me show you upstair-" he was cut off by one guy dancing around hitting Babette and spilling his beer all over her. "Watch it!" Gaston yelled.

"Oh my, let me help you up," Babette said, leaning over and helping the fallen man. She shrugged. "It's not a big deal Gaston. I've been meaning to do some cleaning anyways."

He led her upstairs to his room and pulled out an extra one of his shirts (for Babette to wear until she could wash her own). "I'll close up and then I'll be back," he commented, leaving. Babette pulled the red shirt over her head. It was shorter than most dresses - reaching just below her knee and bore a bold v-neck that showed off her cleavage. Overall it didn't look terrible.

Gaston opened the door. "All good?" He asked and she nodded happily, carefully getting onto one end of the bed and swearing she'd stay there for the whole night.

When she opened her eyes in the morning, she happily learned that she kept her promise. Gaston was on the other side of the bed and she stuck close to her side. She got up very carefully, unsure whether she should leave or wake him first.

"Babette," Gaston groaned tiredly.

She felt her smile curve into a smirk. "Yes Gaston?"

He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes gently. "Thank you for coming by the way. You look beautiful in my shirt. You can keep it." If it wasn't so dark Babette could've sworn she saw a blush on his cheeks.

She leaned forward to get closer to him. "It was my pleasure," she froze when she realized how close her face was to his. She bit her lip, glancing down at his lips for a brief second. This isn't happening.

He put his hand on the back of her head and pulled her in slowly, giving her time to pull away, but she didn't. She let her release all of her tension and stress in the kiss. She sighed, finally able to relax. The kiss was sweet and slow, but cut off abruptly with a knock to the door.

"Gaston!" The man in the doorway called. He was short and slightly plump. He held a candle in his hand in order to see in the dark room, and she let out a large gasp. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize you had company..."

Babette stepped further away from Gaston and closer to the man. "Do I know you?" She whispered, tracking back in her memory to figure out how she knew him. "You... you..." she finally remembered. The man who was trying to melt Lumiere when the village stormed into the castle. The scene played over and over in her head, and she turned back to Gaston. The more she thought about it the more she recognized him too. This was the man who led the attack! She pulled in another gasp for air, her eyes watering. She backed up and hit the small man in the doorway.

"I'm sorry... this is a mistake. I must be going," she whispered, running out of the tavern before either of the two could respond. She buried her face in her hands and ran back toward her cottage.

Lumiere had finally found it, at least he thought. He slowed his horse down to a slow walk toward the village, and immediately stopped it when he saw a girl in a red dress who was running up the hill towards him, crying.
