Okay so some people might consider me a "Hero" of sorts but I am just a ordinary girl and no this is not me trying to humble myself I am really an ordinary girl who's got a few illnesses that make me somewhat super I guess.But I do have a down side: I am completely unaware of when I am in danger plus these illnesses that leave me vulnerable to death and danger. I have silver eyes, freckles I have orange red hair that stops at my lower back.Im five foot six.I also have glasses.My name is Velvet Scarlatina and I am here to... well I don't know what actually. So let's go back to an ordinary Tuesday and this is where our story begins.
"I have robotics club today and need to finish working on my gauntlets, they will have a holographic communicator inside and I haven't fully decided on the other features yet though.But I know I want to call them the Ember Celica.After Yang Xiao Long's weapon From RWBY"I said to my best friend Nicki as I searched throughout my closet to find something to wear for today.Me and Nicki have been friends for a long time ever since we were in pre school.We both went to Jean Baptiste Beaubien Elementary School.We were doing math problems and we both blurted out the answer to four times four.I remember that day like it was yesterday.
"I swear you're obsessed with with that show and Rooster Teeth and all things anime and all things Japanese It's not healthy for you" Nicki said jokingly as he turned around so he didn't see me get dressed.I grabbed a plain white shirt with sleeves that stop at my shoulders, a black skirt with pale pink flowers and tiny dark green vines connecting them all, my pale pink gladiator sandals with spikes that stopped at my upper ankle, me grabbing my black book bag with the same pattern as my skirt slinging it over my shoulder.I grabbed my black glasses.Them thin and round looking like Harry Potter's. I took my long orange red hair on the sides and pulled it to the back and used a black rubber band to tie it in place.To finish I clipped a pale bow on top.A ring that looked like a dream catcher on my pointer finger all my nails painted in a pale pink them being semi long stiletto's.I slung my phone into my backpack as I put on a quartz necklace with gold paint around the top as well as a black lanyard with two keys hanging from it.
"I'll let you know when I get there okay Nicki it won't be long I promise.
"Okay bye Velvet"Nicki said closing out of face time on his computer."
I ran out the door as fast as I could as fast as I could hurrying off to school.
"Bye mamma e papà!" I yelled over my shoulder as I locked the door.
I live downtown Chicago in an apartment building and I love it.The hustle and bustle such a big city fills you with wonder and excitement to invent well at least it does to me.The loud honking of cars the cursing of the angry people in the streets because they didn't get their morning Starbucks or their McDonald's for breakfast.I go to Walter Payton college preparatory High School,Nicki does too.I ride my penny board to school every morning I like the rush of the wind in my hair and the feel of being outside and they feel of such a great city and just the overall it gives off as a whole.Even though it can be violent at times or even the people not the nicest at times I still love it.It's my home well one of them.You see my mama and papa are from Italy and France.Mama being from Amalfi Coast, Italy papa being from Paris, France.Mama went to visit some family and met papa since she spoke both French and Italian.They fell in love right underneath the eiffel tower and they decide to move America.Said it was their next big adventure with me.They both taught me in their native tongue.
I finally made it to school and saw Nicki standing next to my locker in all its bright red glory.I put my penny board and my bookbag inside taking out a few select books as I spun around to face Nicki .
"Ummmm Nicki you in their wake up!"I said waving my hand in front of his face smiling.
"Oh umm yeah let's ummm go!"Nicki said snapping out of his daydream as I grabbed his hand and hurried off running down the hall bolting into the lab so we didn't get caught.Us laughing and catching our breath and hiding on either side of the door just in case some saw and wanted to give us a demerit.We both had a moment of silence when we looked out the door and when we were in the clear we bursted out laughing again.This how it was with me and Nicki ever since we were little.Always having fun.Me and Nicki then turned around to see the rest of the science club staring at us like we were lunatics, all except Alex in all her black and blue haired glory handing us our lab coats as well as our goggles with nothing but a smile on her face and a chuckle in her voice when she said "Here ya go and get to work okay?"
Me and Nicki grabbing our gear still laughing said "Sure thing!" Going to our stations everyone going back to what they were doing.I had started to screw a loose screw back into place on the Ember Celica.
"How it's going Velvet?"Nicki said still focused on his work.The next thing I knew I was on the ground the room was spinning.Nicki turned around face where I was once standing his eyes going wide looking at me in my current position on the ground helpless, color starting to leave my face, vulnerable the only word to describe how I felt.
"VELVET!" He cried out causing everyone to turn my way them all rushing towards me Alex and Nicki the only ones on the ground with me staring in my eyes trying to get me to get up to keep my eyes open.Another student went to go get a teacher."VELVET STAY WITH ME DON'T CLOSE YOUR EYES PLEASE!" I heard Nicki faintly scream I could barely see the tears streaming down his and Alex's faces.I struggled to keep my eyes open it was a fight between me and my subconscious on whether I should keep fighting and stay awake or just give in and go to sleep.Their yelling just starting getting more and more faint and my eyes staying closed for longer periods of time I eventually fell in a deep sleep it felt so empty so cold so alone.I couldn't feel anything I couldn't move I had the feeling of constant free falling not being able to wake up the darkest doing nothing but pulling me closer and deeper into it making it even more difficult to want to awaken.
My eyes started to flutter open my hands balling into tight fist but then realising just to make sure I can still move them.My whole body tensing up me cracking my neck as I roll my head on my shoulders.I felt good I guess.
"VELVET YOU'RE AWAKE"Nicki and Alex both shouted teary eyed hugging me but for some reason I couldn't feel it.They eventually let go cause they claim me being blue going into purple.
"How long was I out for?" I asked confusingly starting to getting up but them pushing me back down and me realising all the tubes connected to my face and the powder blue hospital room.The oak wood floors clean.A big flat screen dead in front of me. A female doctor rushed in the room pushing both Alex and Nicki outta the room.I can hear them faintly yelling.The women unplugged all my tubes and wires.As she tried to calmly tell me that I had became some what super.And she apologized several times saying sorry for not finding them earlier in my life.I had myostatin-related muscle hypertrophy. I wasn't appearing sick that prompted My parents to have me examined by doctors, but my seemingly super-human strength.I have a condition so rare that doctors don't even know how many people are afflicted with it.I also have Savant Syndrome, while debilitating in the way that it is caused by larger and more threatening central nervous system disorders, causes a person to display extremely proficient skills bordering on genius in specific areas such as math, art, or music and logical thinking. This gives me extreme skills to a near-perfect memory.I also have a naturally higher red blood cell count that makes me prone to better athletic performances.I also loss my adrenal gland has so that has left me unable to become frightened of anything.I also have congenital insensitivity to pain called CIPA; without natural alarms to tell me when I'm being hurt or physically threatened, I am completely unaware of my own safety or lack thereof. Besides ignoring pain, my body is also completely unaware of extreme temperatures.I also have magnetic skin in a sense if I try to sense any object it just comes to me.I also have tuberculosis which makes me extremely beautiful but does not physically harm me at all lucky right.With pure agility I can slice a bullet out of the air.I can stay underwater for an infinite amount of time I don't know why though.So yeah I can also superheat my hands to 200 degrees and with stand -56 degrees without feeling cold.As soon as I walked out the door of the room Nicki and Alex ran at me with full force into a hug.I immediately told them everything the doctor did and us three decided to start a crime fighting team who knows what we'd get into and the good we'd hopefully do.
