SHE IS THE ONLY TREASURE I HAVE

Chapter 1-Damsel in Distress
Suddenly while climbing the stairs of the Vashi railway station at the night when it was raining beautifully all over the Mumbai only when I saw her for the first time in my life. She was not actually very beautiful but it was something I never felt before. Her eyes seemed to have the feeling of loneliness. Those 2 minutes of her picture changed my life and left I like never before. Moving her hairs backwards with her fingers and the light coming from the railway train made her look like the most beautiful girl I ever saw in my life. The color of her dress made her look perfect. Then it was like the lighting struck in the Mumbai rains and in no time I ended with……………….
“There was a girl in my town,
She was a beauty queen with a crown,
Her name started with a proper noun,
And she was there in a jacket brown.
She waited for a train,
All alone in the rain,
With a song on her mind,
Only for her kind……………………..!
“Hello…………???Hello…….???Are you alright??”She asked me in her typically patented style. But it was the only thing I noticed. Since my mind was again supposed to enter the memory section of my brain. As her voice reminded me of my first crush when I was in class 10.When at nights I was actually supposed to study but the beautiful weather outside from window never allowed me to capitalize on my good intentions. And then it was my cell phone with the most beautiful voice in the world which always said
“Wasssup guys!!!!!!!!!!!!This is Nitrogen-Generation Night with me Rj Meera on Radio Mirchi 98.3 its hot!!!!!.....................................
“What………???” was my reaction when she threw water on my face from the bottle she was supposed to drink. “You are pathetic. You have been staring me from so long. You are lucky enough that I didn’t call the cops. Otherwise you would have ended up staring at the walls of a prison. You moron. Just go to hell.”And even after she said all this, no wonder I liked her only cuz her voice matched with my 1st crush and her face was exactly the same that I imagined for my 1st crush just from her voice.
After ruining my entire image in her mind I stood there looking down at the ground and she went on to sit at a bench just a few steps away. After thinking for some time by being in the same position, I decided to go to her and say “sorry”. But again I was destined to be slapped by the girl this time for staring at her. Fortunately neither there were any people out there (which is quite an expect one at 2 O’ clock at the night) nor I was slapped by her.
She actually told me “sorry. It was all my fault. Actually I’m getting really nervous since it’s my first day in Mumbai. And I ended up being alone at an unknown railway station with my train delayed for 8 hrs …………………………………………” she actually went on saying something. I stopped her in the middle of her talk by “chill!!!!!!!!!Aise bade bade desho main, aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hai senorita” By the way she smiled I knew she thought if me as a fool but it was more important to make her smile at that instance. And then expect the unexpected. Crossing all my limits of insanity and making new one I asked “Can you have a coffee with me?” and she exactly did what I expected her to do. Making a face which ruined all her beautiful looks “what???Are you kidding me???Where the hell you will find a coffee shop open at this time of the day???”
Sounding totally stupid I replied her “Dhundne se toh of Bhagwaan bhi mil jata hai, Coffee shop kya cheese hai!!!!” Again she made that kind of a face “What???” It was then time for her to go down rolling on the floor due to laughter since I was supposed to show her my poor translating skills “You can find God on this planet if you search from your heart. Then searching a coffee shop is a pretty simple job. Don’t you think so??” She added fuel to my desires by telling “Only if you find a coffee shop open at this time and pay my bill” with a beautiful smile on her face, which didn’t lasted too long.
So as I was supposed to do the so called “pretty simple job” by me of finding a coffee shop. We both moved out of the railway station by keeping our luggage at the railway’s “waiting room”.
While walking down the stair cases of the railway station I asked her by gathering all my guts “I know you are sad and don’t mind you telling me the reason for it” with a curious smile on my face. She murdered all my curiosity by “You are very funny. But to mind things you are supposed to have a mind.” She was laughing but suddenly stopped laughing and I heard the sigh of cry in her voice when she said “I don’t need a coffee. Let’s go back to the station”. This was not at all happening. When the things actually started to go on the right track, I was not supposed to take a left turn.”No one’s goanna rob our luggage from the railway waiting room. So just chill and let me find a coffee shop for you. And if you mind can you say something which is not at all negative in any sense.”Her smile at this time was unprecedented and was the only ray of hope in my dark my life.
“Hey my name is Greeshma Nair and I’m from Banglore. I’m visiting Mumbai for a business deal since I am the VP of Info tech software company………………..” I was stunned by learning this about her. And I knew I was goanna vomit the crap out when I said “Whoa!!!! I knew you were smart enough from your spectacles but didn’t expect you to be this dynamic.” She smiled and just like any other ordinary girl she said “Oh come on” and I knew she was tentatively waiting to hear something about me. But out of her curiosity she finally asked me “What’s your name? And what you do to live life?”
I knew I will force her to think of me as a fool when I told her “I am Aashish. My friends call me Aashu. Apart from being a RJ, I’m writing a novel to compete at the New York festival.” “You don’t look that talented from your face.” She said mockingly. And all I could do was to smile at her.
And that was the time when god came to my rescue from ruining all my image in front of her, I saw a hut look alike tea stall.”That’s it I m getting my share of tea there with you. Since I can’t wait to find a CCD outlet at this given time”. “No ways. I m not going to that place even in my nightmares”. To myself in my mind I said “The place seems to be in a way better condition than my love life.” “So what you want me to do now??? I m not a magician to bring a coffee shop in front of you. Which I actually would have loved to do. On a better note, you can sit down there at the bus stand and I would bring you anything which I find at the tea stall there. ” And at this time it was the God Indra to my rescue that it started to rain heavily and she ran to the bus stand. I assumed it to be a positive signal from both God and Greeshma. I smiled like a kid looking at her when I was standing at the same place enjoying the rain. And then looked at the sky with closed eyes thanking god for setting up everything right for my not too good love story and that was the time I felt in love with Mumbai Rains.
“Aashu. Quick we have to leave right now otherwise we will miss our flight.” “Okay mom we shall leave.” And I ceased to write my novel. Packed my laptop and left for the flight.
Rushing out of the house to catch a seat in the car. Not to my surprise when I arrived at the airport, I saw all my not so called relatives. And I knew this holiday trip with my family will again turn out to be a tragedy which happened 5 years back. Looking down to the ground I moved away from all the get together which my parents were having with the relatives. The smile of the lady who saw my passport and ticket at the counter made me also smile like her. Carrying that smile I went on all the way from the airport to get into my flight and sit at my seat. Thank god my seat was isolated from all the relatives whom I have been avoiding since the last holiday trip to Goa.
I really never wanted to see their faces ever again in my life after that incident but also I wanted to get out of this not so good phase of my life. So I decided to come on to this holiday tour to Shimla. I was used to these travelling in airplanes but still that feeling in stomach at the time of take off of the plane is a mystery for me and every time I managed to get out of that mystery safely. As the seats around me were empty I decided to write the novel which I started last night.
After smiling like an idiot, I went to the tea stall and got 2 cups of hot tea and some biscuits to eat. I reached to her running, since it was raining heavily. “Thanks a lot for the tea. It’s pretty cold out here. But still it feels amazing to be out here with a beautiful companion-The cup of tea.” She showed her tongue to me after saying this and I knew she was pulling my leg. And then to talk like a complete Mumbaikar “That’s the best part of Mumbai, when it rains you feel the way you never felt before. The gushing winds, the smell of soil, birds chirping out there, dimmed moon light with dark sky in the background and it rains like no were else.” Her face completely lightened up. “You seemed to have perfectly into the writer’s shoes.” And she smiled looking at me. And I loved her for doing that. “This is the magic created when it rains in Mumbai.” I think I looked like a salesman promoting the brand of Mumbai.
I really didn’t know what I was going to do out there when the glass of my tea finished. Suddenly my attention went towards her eyes which were about to flow out with floods of tears. I knew she would have never told me the reason for her sadness as I was a complete stranger to her. But that was not the way I was giving upon her.
“Hey I would love you to hear something which I wrote way back when I was in my junior college. Do you mind me reciting it for u now?” And when she replied in her shivering voice, I completely fell for her “yup surely. Go on “
I knew this was my best chance to impress her. So I made sure that everything was perfect. And then I started with a smile on my face and
Get me out of here,
I have a lot of fear,
A wish that was very dear,
And some dreams that are unclear.
Still everyone cares for me,
And I don’t know where to be,
Still manages to be in someone’s side,
When nothing goes right.
And then one of the many unfolded dreams beckons on me,
And then the bird of happiness asks me to set it free,
Many thoughts gushing in to my mind and I don’t know why,
Still I wonder why do I have a reason to cry?
And with one simple question and many answers,
Still searching that key which would set the bird free,
And finally on this tree of dedications,
With sorrows as flowers,
And happiness as fruit,
You and me alone,
And still am happy cuzflowers are just a loan,
And the fruits will not let me die alone,
And till the end we both will still sing this song,
Which has became THE ONLY REASON OF MY HAPPINESS………………..
Cuzthe story still goes on!
I knew she was touched by it. And she completely understood it from the beginning till the end. And just after I completed the poem, she completely broke out and wept on my shoulders. I knew I couldn’t have done anything better than wiping her tears off and looking upon her with a smile which said many things which are I completely understand and I know it’s not your fault. Whatever may happen I m always there for you. Even if the whole world is against you, I will never leave you alone.
They way she talked after this didn’t actually suit her beautiful personality. “But what would have I done?? It was not at all my fault. Still I paid the price for everything. Even if it was out of my shoes I did it all alone. And no one helped me for that. Not even him…………………….”
I knew I didn’t have any chances when she mentioned about him. I was crestfallen. Still what was more important for me was to make her smile at this given time.
“I want to forget everything. But why God why?? I am not able to do so. Why??”
The whole scene from my past flashed in front of me. And again I was scared even with the thought of what have happened with me in the past. It was a stunned silence at that time of night in the plane with darkness all around. And that was up to my rescue cuzof which no one noticed me wiping my tears off in that darkness with only my laptop flashing lights on me. I cleaned off my spectacle with the handkerchief and that was the time I knew I won’t be able to write further. So I decided to get up of my seat. Took a view of what was going on in the plane.
I was again fascinated to see a small kid of hardly a few months sleeping in the arms of his mother. That moment symbolized complete love, faith and every emotion of life that I was concerned about…………. “Excuse me sir. Please go to your seat and have a sleep. The journey is pretty tiresome.”This was the air hostess, for which I can never forgive air hostesses in my entire life. I moved away from the corridor where I was standing. Stretching a bit my arms and yawing while walking towards my seat. I really felt tiresome and completely drained out. So I decided that I should get some sleep at this time of the day.
So I made the necessary adjustments with my seat and took out the blanket and finally slept. The silence at that given time completely scared me. That sound of wind when my ears touched the window pane left me stunned and I opened my eyes. Again I recollected all my courage and decided to sleep again.
The dark road with no end. A guy and girl walking out there holding their hands. When it was raining and lighting in the dark. A stroke of wind making the branches follow the trajectory of wind. Both of them walking slowly, and enjoying the rain. Suddenly they stopped between the two trees. Both looking at each other. The eyes saying everything they had to say. And then was the rain which completely understood the situation. Made a perfect moment for them and with shivering hands and mind they came close to each other. And as the situation was destined to something. It happened on the perfect time. They kissed each other. A deep symbolizing moment of love, when both of them were together. The destiny altered all its intentions and no one knew what it was up to. A rashly fast driving vehicle entered their world of dreams and bang.
I suddenly jerked in all rush with a completely stunned face with my heartbeats faster than anything else in this world. And resembling the sound which u hear outside the plane. With sweating all round from my face. Wiping the droplets off from my forehead. I breathe a sigh of relief that it was only a nightmare.
I waited for my heartbeats to stabilize, thinking was this a memory of a past incident from my life. Or it indicated something cruel which was going to happen in my future. The answer of only question I knew at that time was that I was not going to sleep again at that night. So I got out of my comfortable seat which now became a haunted house. Walking towards the washroom I glanced again at that little kid sleeping with his mother. After stopping there for a while, I went inside the washroom. And as expected to do, splashed some water on my face and wiped it off. And came back to my seat.
Henceforth, I decided to move ahead with the story of my novel. That light of my laptop irritated me at the beginning but sooner I was comfortable with it, way far more with my sleep.
“I don’t know exactly what has happened with you but I m sure that it was not your fault in it. Cuzthe tears of your eye can’t lie.” This was all I said her hoping that she stops crying. I took a not so easy looking risk of my life by giving her the tightest hug of her life.
Initially I felt the droplets of her tears on my shoulder but later on the sigh ended. She lifted her head up and looked at me with a smile “Thanks a lot!!! And I m really very sorry to do this to you.”
“No No. No need for a sorry. I totally understand your emotions. And I am completely okay with it.” And the smile on her face was enough to know that she was completely alright now.
“I think we should go to the station now. The dusk is almost to end. I don’t want to miss my train at any cost”. And she doesn’t even know how much I hate her even today for saying those words. I didn’t want to this night to end in this manner. So again I started speaking non-sense.
“Have you ever thought of getting rid of all your pain? Not permanently but at least temporarily?? “The look she gave after hearing this question is still afresh in my mind even today.
I knew she would have killed me for doing that but I was never afraid if losing my life saving the damsel in distress.
I grabbed her hand. Took her out of the shade of the stand. Threw her out in the rain of Mumbai at the moment which an artist always desire to portrait out on the paper. But he can’t compete with the most beautiful artist of the universe-The God himself. The time was about 6 in the morning and I knew the train was at 7.30 am the same morning. Watching her enjoy the rain with her eyes closed and face facing upward right towards the sky. And it was the most beautiful morning in my entire life.
She was not able to control her happiness and her face was not able to handle that over flowing smile of her lips and the joy in her eyes. The only thing I did at that time was to smile every time she looked at me while dancing round and round in the rain.
Suddenly I wonder what happened and why God decided to snatch away all my happiness in just a blink of my eyelids. The moment I turned around to wipe out my spectacles, an insanely driven car smacked her and went off. Left me doing only one thing of standing at that place and cursing my stars why all this was supposed to happen only with me. When it was the first love of my life.
Getting quickly out of my coma. I went to her and grabbed her wrist in a flash of light to check her pulse rate. And not my surprise the pulse rate was very slow but the heart was working. I held her up in both my hands. Deciding to run to the nearby hospital. To the second thought of getting faint watching the blood all over the ground.
I was supposed to do everything watching which I grew up from the Bollywood movies. I cried for help to every car which passed through the street. Asking the way to hospital to every person I found on the road. Running faster than ever which I did in my life.
My mind was totally blank at that given time. The only thing I knew at that time was to reach the hospital the sooner I can. Not to my expectations I fall and tumbled down many a times. No way of my tears to stop down. I fell down seriously and also injured my forehead. Which made my vision blurred. But what God wants no one can deny him to get. And I criticized him like never before in my life.
And that was the time when I reached the hospital. Putting Greeshma on stretcher and calling the doctor of help. I noticed her eyes looking at me. And holding my hand, I felt her like never before. Driving her fast to the Operation Theater, the only thing in my mind was that did this happened only cuzof me? Could this would have happen if she never met me? Was I responsible for everything that was happening around me?
When I saw the door of operation theater, I felt the sudden urge to tell her I m waiting for her outside the door of this room. So she has to come to of it for me, also I want to say sorry which was not enough for everything that happened but I knew I m responsible for everything that happened.
With almost a paralyzed mind I told her “I love you” with only the movements of my lips and the voice which even I didn’t heard at that moment. But her eyes suddenly light up. And she wanted to say something, which was clear from the action of her hand. And then she went inside the Operation Theater and the door was closed right in front of it with me standing out with all my desires shattered in just that minute of my life.
Wiping my tears I removed my specks and banged the screen of my laptop down. Threw it in my bag. Got up and left that environment of plane. Washed my face hoping that it will help me to wash my sins off too. But it never happened and I knew it will never happen. Back to my seat and back to my life. The plane was supposed to land but the thoughts on my mind never landed. They were always fueled up to reach the sky top of my thinking capacities and always pissed off me from the sky above with me on the land.
Fighting with my thoughts to win the smile of my face. And to prove at least once to myself that I m not responsible for everything that happened to me in my past. My stomach neither noticed the butterflies which it does every time the plane landed. And it was not to my surprise. I get off the plane. On my way to the Shimla airport. Head held high to symbolize that I won over the thoughts in mind. With a stern look on my face. I waited for my luggage at the luggage counter. Neglecting the presence of all my relatives and parents.
And that was why I hated how it rains in Mumbai. Which destroys houses of millions and desires of many hearts. It gave water for all xyz needs but took away the only thing I cherished having in my life. It left me with tears in my eyes and a dark room in my heart which I never wish to enter.
The moment I collected my luggage from the counter I hear “Hey Aashu!!! This way. The car’s waiting out at this end.” And that was my cousin Poonam with her car which always accommodated all my relatives and parents in it, adding to my wonders of the world list throughout all my childhood. And this time was determined to find to the reason, How’s that possible?
I waved at her with a friendly fake smile which I had been carrying from the last 5 years and indicated to her that I’m coming to her with actions of my fingers. Working my way out in the procession of masses hugging out their relatives like they met after a war. I reached her almost tired and dead. Then as she do every time. Showing her love and care for me. Hugging me and then kissing on my cheek.
“I told you not to do that. It reminds me of Aunt Lily by the way, where is she? This is the first time she is not at the airport to welcome me when I visited Shimla.” After saying this, she asked me where the other relatives and my parents are.
And then what I was also supposed to do, I caught her from the other side with my arm “You don’t worry dear; all oldies are accompanying each other. They might reach here by the end of the day. Let’s get a cup of coffee please. I’m still feeling sleepy” with stretching my hands and yawning.
Then we both waited with a cup of coffee in our hands at the exit door of the Shimla airport. Sharing some jokes and laughing like idiots in the mock of people.
Chapter 23- The First Day after Marriage
This was a beautiful night in which we both found ourselves for 700000 lives. The morning too was a beautiful one with my beautiful wife in my arms. As per her natural schedule she woke up at sharp 7 in the morning and ran to the bathroom with the blanket. In the bathroom, she saw herself in the mirror wearing nothing and she agreed for the first time in her life that she has a great body. “I look pretty good” were her exact words which she said after looking at her body from all possible angels and gave a flying kiss to her beautiful reflection in the mirror. After which she suddenly realized that the door of bathroom is open and I might be peeking through the door or my blanket. So she turned back in a jiffy to check upon me and saw me sleeping with a smile on same place where she left me. “Thank god” she whispered with a smile and the door closed.
After an obvious long duration of time she peeked out of the door and after watching me sleep came out in the towel to open her bag and find the dress to wear. After the long confusion of what to wear to impress me she ended up choosing a white full sleeves top and black denim shorts, which she was 100% confident that I would love. So she went back in to get dressed.
The real show began when she pulled out all her bags to arrange all the stuff in our new house. I knew she was more than happy to find me asleep, as her smile said it all. She picked up a pen and book to write something, may be a fairy tale- “A fairy writing a fairy tale”. So the long stretched movie went this way- the left part of the wardrobe for me and the right for her, because wife is always right. Her 2 bags of clothes included n number of jeans and tops, which were placed separately. The dozens of “diamond studded” one pieces hanging in a series resembling the rainbow pattern and then the black ones, next to which were the saris which her mom gave for the wedding and she swear to never wear them. The jewelries went safely into the locker but yes, not before being tried once and looked into the mirror every time. And then came the silent part, wherein she pulled out the bag full of books. She was just staring at the books for some time, thinking something which is a Da Vinci Code yet to be cracked. The books were placed on the bookshelf in order of read, unread, the novels first and then the poetries. I always wonder that how people read so much. I’m sure that I never read any of my school text books from the first page till the last. The coffee mugs, teddies, photo frames of family, friends and teachers were placed on the shelf above the books.
And then she proved again that she is the best wife in world by arranging my clothes in the wardrobe. My clothes where arranged in somewhat similar pattern with the suits hanging, jeans and t-shirts placed separately on the shelves. Unfortunately no jewelries to put into the locker but watches placed nicely.
Not to her surprise I was still found asleep. So she decided first to make the breakfast and then wake me up. And then the journey of “Big White Riding Hood” proceeded to the kitchen. Being the first day at new house, nothing was much to be found to make it a messier place. Fortunately we had a pack of bread, milk, coffee and most importantly “Maggi” otherwise she would have ate me. I think she would prefer me roasted. It took her sometime to toast the bread slices, make coffee, and Maggi.
Everything was first beautifully arranged in the tray. I was wondering from where the rose came but then realized may be from the last night’s wedding reception. So she woke me up at around 10-10.30 am. “Good morning sweetheart” “Wow. I didn’t knew this bed has an attached bathroom with it”. “How the hell in world you can manage to spoil my mood every time?” She said angrily and then looked away. So I pulled her and kissed her. “Good morning baby. I love you.” “I love you to” and hence her mood and the temperature of room was back to normal now.
“See what I have made for you.” She said and smiled. “Wow. Thank you so much. I love you. Only a beautiful lady like you deserves to have a beautiful red rose like this.” By saying this I handed her the rose which she brought for me. “Aw so sweet. Thank you janu. I love you too. Come let’s eat.”
She had tears in her eyes when she ate pav bhaji. I went to her, hugged her and asked “What happened? Is this so horrible?” She said “No idiot. It’s the best pav bhaji I ever ate in my life. If you are such an amazing cook then how u managed to burn the Maggi and pasta when you cooked at my place?”. “Oh that. I was afraid that if you came to know I can cook, you will give excuses daily after marriage and I will have to cook”. “You donkey.” “But if you promise that you will dress up beautifully like this every day, I also promise to cook daily.” Then she smiled. I wiped her tears and then she said “I love you” “I love you too”.
In all the books on earth, do you have a book called “How to tolerate a husband like me?”
“Naah but I’m surely thinking to write one when I will figure out how to do that”, was her reply.
And the day ended by doing the same thing which we did the last night, Sorry the first night after marriage.
Chapter 25- Our Day of Love
One ordinary day, long time after our marriage I called her late in the afternoon “Please come down. It’s urgent. It’s an emergency. Please come down fast.” She came down running in a pink Indian dress without a dupatta with all the possible speed she could and there she saw me at the driver’s seat of a beautiful blue “Hyundai i20”. To her surprise this was the best gift I ever gave her and which was clearly justified by the tears of her eyes. I came to her, wiped her tears off and said “I love you. Consider this as a small token of my love.” Then we went up to the house, and after sometime came down with a tray of flowers and other necessary items needed to perform the rituals. As soon as the rituals ended, I held her hand, made her sit in the car and went on to long drive.
And not to my wonder, she reacted in the same way which I was expecting her to, “Don’t you understand? How the hell will pay the EMI of this stupid car? What do you think, you are a superman and you can survive without eating food and wearing clothes? Who gave you this stupid idea of buying a car? Just tell me the bloody name, I will not forgive that idiot.” To which I replied very calmly. “The answer to all your questions lie in a box right here.”
There she found a gift box wrapped beautifully in a blue paper and silver ribbon atop. I watched her open the box gently, wherein she found a small idol of Lord Ganesha which she placed exactly where it was supposed to be; a small, cute, blue teddy which she hanged at the rear view mirror; a red rose and dairy-milk silk which held in her hand and finally a letter which read as “I love you my dear wife Greeshma. I’m not sure that you remember this incident or not but long back once, when we were in a relationship I forgot your birthday and rightly you were very angry on me, at that time I promised you that here onwards I will remember all your birthdays and after marriage I will celebrate ordinary days with you like your birthday. To which you replied that you don’t remember and celebrate my birthday, how you will celebrate an ordinary day like my birthday? I know, you must have not taken me seriously at that time but here I’m, celebrating that ordinary day just like your birthday. A Hyundai car only cuz you are a SRK fan. A very happy birthday to world’s most beautiful cute sweet smart intelligent hot and sexy wife. I love you”.
Just when she finished reading this, a tear escaped her eye. She went completely silent. She rested her head on the window and cried. I didn’t stop her cuz there was a constant smile on her face all the time, and with every passing tear the intensity of smile increased and when the silence finally broke up. She said, “I’m really sorry Aashu. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I love you so much. This is not the best gift I ever had, YOU are the best gift I ever had. I love you so much for everything”. I replied, “It’s okay dear. No need of sorry. I love you too” and suddenly she entered a naughty mood and told me that I’m very unlucky cuz I will not get even a single piece of this super tasty dairy-milk silk and she started eating it. So it was the right time to take the advantage of her naughty mood, I replied “I will snatch away the chocolate from your mouth, just like I snatched you away from your parents.” I stopped the car, on a lonely road and kissed her to the fullest and tasted every bit of chocolate. After this proceedings again went silent, she whispered ‘I love you” I replied “I love you too” and she slept with her right hand holding my left and her head on the window.
During this time I was constantly looking at her beautiful innocent face which symbolized only endless trust to me at that moment of life. She trusted me enough to leave her parents forever and never go back to them again. She trusted me so much to come on a long drive with me wearing a pink dress which never wore outside the house, without even knowing where I’m taking her. She trusted me enough to spend her whole life with me. She trusted me enough.
After a long while when it was dark, a stupid truck coming from the opposite side interrupted my beautiful princess’s sleep by her ugly headlight. “Feeling better sweetheart?” “Yup. So where we are going?” “Before answering this question, I have one more surprise for you in the backseat. Please have a look over it.” This time it was much bigger gift box, again wrapped with blue paper and silver ribbon. “Wow. It looks like you wasted all you life’s saving today. Didn’t you?”. “Oh god! Can’t you be a little romantic?” “Oh god! Can’t you be a little responsible in your life?” “Okay. I’m sorry. So tell me, you want to open the gift here or after reaching where we are going?” She made me fall in love with her again after her sweet reply that “You know what is inside the box and where we are going. So only you when I should open this gift”. “Aw so sweet. I love you so much.” She spoiled my good mood with an ugly “Shut up”. But her smile was amazing. It was one of the most peaceful moment of my life to watch her hold the gift box on her lap and sleep with her head over it. You rarely have any peaceful moments after marriage and this was my Haley’s comet. So I grabbed this opportunity, watched her sleep peacefully throughout the journey. I also made her hairs go back behind the ears, every time wind spoiled them. I loved the winds for this cuz I loved doing this again and again and forever.
Even after reaching the destination, I waited in the car and didn’t wake her up. I watched the most beautiful woman of my life, sleep with the most important feeling of her life which she was holding in her hands. The weather got cooler, my eyes got heavier and then she woke from the most peaceful sleep of her life, which was clearly visible in her eyes. “When did we reach here?” “Just now sweetheart.” She caught me again. “But your smile is saying a completely differently story. Better stop lying.” I never had better replies for her or I always wanted the better of her. Unable to solve this mystery, I gave her my coat and we checked into a hotel.
She walked all the way carrying the box close to her heart just like a little girl carrying her doll, which indeed was true. At the reception, I told her “Please hand over this box to me. What the world would think? Such a devil husband who makes his wife carry the luggage?” Again, no man has ever won an argument over a beautiful lady and I was again destined to lose. “This gift is for whom?” “You my sweetheart”. “So who will carry the gift?” “You my sweetheart”. “Good evening sir. How may I help you?” The receptionist asked. “A honeymoon suite please”, I replied. “I am warning you right now that you are not getting what you want today. Not at any cost.” “Trust me sweetheart. I don’t need it today.” After this conversation I tried my best to be sarcastic, “The lady doesn’t need any help with the luggage. She thinks she is a superwoman.” I wonder what was wrong in that line, she killed me with her looks.
I opened the door of the lift for her, even closed it. No words from her, but the smile was worth a million of them. We entered the room. She sat on the bed with the gift box still in her hand. “I’m going down to order the dinner. What would you like to eat?” There was a mystery in her “Nothing” as she was looking at the box and not me while answering. So I left with the noise of door and she started talking to herself. “What’s exactly wrong with this man? He could have ordered for the food on the phone itself. Room service would have delivered the food. Doesn’t he need to know my expression when I open up the gift? It’s okay. He already knows what is in the box and he is mature enough to know what my reaction will be. Good for him.”
And then she opened the gift very carefully. To start off with, the gift had a beautiful blue sari with a black border and the respective blouse. She was surprised. “Why do I need a sari?” Then was a complimentary jewelry set of Evara Platinum with earrings, necklace and a finger ring, each with a blue diamond. “Now this makes sense. I would wear this on my birthday.” She smiled. Alas. Then was a huge blue teddy bear. “Aw he is so cute. But u dumb teddy. My husband is way cuter than you and also he loves me a lot.” And she kissed the teddy. With a wish that this series of surprise gifts never end, there was the last gift. Which was an envelope, in which the letter read “Congratulations Mrs. Aashish Upadhyay. You are pregnant.”
She was completely stunned. All her moments stopped. She was breathing heavily. She felt numb and lifeless and then she erupted in tears and hid her face in the sari to proceed to cry. So did I, watching her do all this from behind the door. I came running to her. Hugged her. Wiped off her tears. Kissed her forehead. Whispered “I love you” in her ears. I don’t know when I slept holding on to her with my head in her lap. She woke up next morning with the most important moment of her life in her hand. After the shower, she was wondering “It’s impossible that Aashish is not carrying extra clothes for me when he knew we are coming here. I cannot wear the sari cuz he wants me to wear it when I enter the house with the baby.” And within no time she found a blue sleeveless one piece in my laptop bag. Then after dressing into perfection she ordered the breakfast and woke me up with the breakfast in her hand. “Wow. I thought I was going to see my beautiful wife in the towel.” “And I thought you were going to get something very special this morning but now eat this stupid breakfast only.”
That is not how I exactly wake up every morning but today was a special day. So I chose a special style of waking up. Keeping the breakfast on the table, she sat in front of me on bed and finally I got what I always wanted. She jumped on me kissing me and saying “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so very much for the most beautiful surprise of my life. I never ever imagined that you will do this for me. I love you so much dear. Thank you.” “I have one last surprise for you. Come with me.” I took her to the window, holding her hand. I opened the curtains and “tada….” She went speechless seeing a sunrise at the valley with beautiful green mountains, birds singing along and she ended up holding my hand and her head on my shoulder and a I love you. “I love you too sweetheart.” After a long time she asked me, “Why is everything blue?” “It’s cuz the first time we met at my house, you were wearing a blue top and you looked the world’s most beautiful girl.” “Why you didn’t tell me this when we met for the first?” “Sorry. I was scared.” “It’s okay. Don’t be.” And the she smiled and pulled my cheeks and I blushed. “So if you remember all this, tell me what the date was?” “Hmm… 14th February, 2014.” “Wow!” “The time was 6 in the evening. Anything else u want?” “Yup. Say thank you to me.” “Thank you? For what?” “Idiot you remember all this only cuz I give you almonds to eat every morning.” And there we were laughing and living there happily ever after in the valleys of love flowing through each other’s heart.
I love you world’s most beautiful cute sweet smart intelligent caring loving hot and sexy wife.
