Everything seemed white... Where was he?
Yato's eyes finally adjusted to the light and in front of him stood a girl who was smaller than him. She had the most vibrant pink color in her eyes, her chocolate brown hair flowing in the wind like water in a streaming river, and her smile could light up the entire world. He recognized the girl. Her name is Hiyori Iki; his best friend. His cheeks flushed a bit and threw back a smile at the small girl.
"Yato! Let's play a game!"
The brunette jumped up and down with excitement. The small male pouted and puffed his cheeks.
"Alright, alright. I'll play with you."
Hiyori giggled and tapped Yato's arm as she dashed off, her dress flowing along with her hair as she looked back at the confused boy.
"Tag! You're it!"
She called out in a giggle and proceeded to run off. The male's eyes widened and he growled to himself as he began to sprint off to the small female.
"Hey! No fair!"
He chased after her as they both giggled from trying to tag each other. Yato finally caught up and tapped her shoulder running off in the other direction.
"Tag!"
Hiyori smiled and ran after the boy. She seemed to run faster than Yato and easily caught up as she jumped up to tap his black and purple highlighted hair.
"Tag!"
But when she landed from her jump she stumbled and crashed into the male.
"Waaah!!"
Hiyori screamed out which caught Yato by surprise and they both fell to the ground.
"Hiyori! A-are you okay?"
The small male quickly sat up to check on the female for any scratches which thankfully there weren't any.
"I-I'm fine Yato..I'm sorry for jumping on you."
She looked up at her best friend with sad eyes. Yato panicked a bit inside since he hates to see her upset.
"No no! It's okay Hiyori. We-we were just playing..that's all."
Yato got up and held out his hand for the small girl to take.
"I'll help you up."
Hiyori reached up for his hand and was pulled to her feet.
"Thank you, Yato."
She flashed him another one of her sweet smile that seemed to make Yato's heart race. Hiyori enveloped Yato in a tight hug as said boy stood in shock but eventually returned the hug.
"I'm glad you're my best friend Yato..I would have been alone if you weren't there the day that I moved here."
Yato smiled remembering the day when Hiyori moved into the house across from him that they became friends. That was all a year ago when they were both six years old. And here they are now; seven years old and best friends.
"Yato...you have to wake up.."
He looked down at Hiyori who seemed to have whispered something. He didn't quite get it.
"Can you repeat that Hiyori?"
Said female looked up but something was wrong. She seemed transparent as if she was fading. Yato started panicking again as he grabbed Hiyori's shoulder but his hands seemed to have gone through.
"Hiyori! What's going on!?"
The small female was almost gone as she whispered once again.
"You have to wake up.."
After that, she disappeared. Yato was then consumed by darkness. He couldn't breathe. What's going on? He started struggling but to no avail couldn't seem to get out of the suffocating darkness. Giving up on struggling he let the darkness take over as he seemed to be endlessly floating.
"You have to wake up.."
Then...
He was blinded by light once again.
