Many years ago, two races lived on the face of the earth in harmony. Those two races were one of humanity, and one of monsterkind. For centuries, no, millennia, they lived in a world where there was peace all around, where the only deaths were of age or sickness. Humans and monsters alike would hold hands with one another in celebration, be it the passing life of a loved one, or the upbringing of a new light that is a life.
All of that changed when humanity's souls became corrupt with hatred.
For days, for months, the two races fought, monsters crumbling into dust left and right, the bodies of fallen humans accompanying them. For monsterkind, the fighting was in vain; the King evacuating his people into Mount Ebott for the sake of shelter from the upcoming attack from humanity. Mothers would hold onto their children as the little ones would weep, the fathers staying behind to let their wives and children seek shelter first. That day caused no casualties, save for seven mages locking the barrier of the mountain with a spell. The monsters remained trapped underground for several hundred years, to them it seemed to be several thousand years. Many years later, the descendants of those seven mages will bring forth fourteen heroes from the past for the Fourth Holy Grail War, where only two servants will come out alive to claim their reward.
[ Author's Note: this is my first legitimate fanfiction since 2016, so please don't be a jerk to me about it, alright? keep in mind that i have little knowledge of fate/zero, so if anyone has more knowledge than i do, please let me know and i'll take it into consideration. there will be seven alternative endings based on each class, by the way, so this crossover isn't entirely based off of fate/zero. thank you for reading the prologue! ]
