I rested my hands on the balcony railing and closed my eyes, taking a deep breathe. I loved the city I truly did but I almost never left my small apartment. You see I guess you could say I'm cursed. Every since I was able to move I was ... well a klutz but not your average, just trip over things a lot, klutz. I tended to acidentally kill people. So much some random person asked me to be their hit man. Weird right? Anyway, I never left the only times I ever did someone was killed. I walked back into the dark apartment were only one light was on in me and my roommates bedroom. I sat on the couch not wanting to see her at the moment but lucky me she came into the living room.
"Are you gonna stay in our room tonight or throw yourself a pity party and stay out here?" She said and crossed her arms.
"Are you gonna keep acting like youe bigger and better than me?" I turned on the side lamp we kept on the living room nightstand only to see her ugly, disgusted face.
"I'm not acting. The only reason we even live together is because you cant go anywhere without it costing someones life. So I have to take care of you and hope I don't die." She raised her voice slightly and gave me a sarcastic smile.
"Then I'll move out. I hated you anyway." I got up and grabbed my keys.
"Where do you think your going." She grabbed my shoulder and harshly yanked me back.
"What the heck!" I yelled and pushed her back.
She tripped over a small bottle that was laying on the ground. A loud thud filled the apartment building and caused our neighbors small, annoying Pomeranian to start barking. She mumbled a few curse words under her breath.
"Want me to get you ice?" I offered walking to the freezer.
"NO, THIS TIME I WANT YOU TO GET OUT!!" She yelled.
I grabbed a few essential things and left quickly.
"Be lucky you aren't dead yet." I said as I stormed out the door.
I had no idea where I was going I just wanted to get as far away as possible so the subway was my only choice really. It was late so almost no one was there which was good because I didn't want to cause any casualties. I went down to the subway tunnel and sat on a concrete bench. I waited for a long time and watched people come and go. I almost left after a small fight broke out over Cheetos. Yeah, Cheetos I guess you gotta be protective of your food. After that there was only a couple people waiting, getting irritated that the subway wasn't here yet but it had only been like fifteen minutes. Even though the tunnel stunk to high heaven and homeless people slowly walked around, eyeing things people had, which made you quiet uncomfortable, it was calming to me. I hadn't been outside in a few months. A small dinging sound and some inaudible noise came out of the old speakers. The subway arrived, people rushed out, mostly people out for a night on the town I suppose. I walked on the subway where only few people who were standing their waiting one of the homeless guys. It was New York City homeless people were everywhere and it didn't bother many people unless you were new in town. I held onto the rail as the subway started moving.
