Stone Storm hung back in the shadows. He looked at the cats around him. He began to remember the fallen cats who were slain by the wolves. It made him shiver to the tip of his tail to his claws. For he wouldn't allow that to happen again. He wouldn't allow another cat to die. Never again. Paws sounded behind him. He saw Fish Scar. "Report." He meowed. The mackerel tabby scratched a hind-paw behind his ear. "Everyone that's coming is ready to leave." He told the dark gray tom.
"Good." Stone Storm murmured, peering past him to the back of then, his eyes on Tiger's Roar, who was nestled up beside Branch Flower.
"The ancestors will look after them." He reassured looking at the pair as well. Falcon Song drew near them. "If the ancestors say to leave, I cannot intervene. As much as I want to." The spotted tabby tom meowed. Bright Wind was crouched by Tiger's Roar, touching noses. "Oh my friend. I know how you were when you lost Frost Water. But me leaving you must be,"
"Oh Bright Wind. I'm stronger than you think. I simply can't let you let your still working bones be by me now can I?" The dark brown tabby rasped.
"We'll be fine. It's you lot we're worried about." Branch Flower meowed. Little Ear touched his tail to her flank. "You've always been so strong. We've been thankful to have you as our tribmates. More than anything." He meowed. Stone Storm's gaze eyed the the three cats that had opted to stay behind. "I guess this is goodbye. Until we meet again." He meowed. "Until we meet again." The three meowed at the same time watching as the cats exited out of the tunnel.
Grass Shadow trotted beside Weasel Spot, holding a mewling ginger she-kit in her mouth. Bright Wind walked beside Light Mist, a pale gray she-cat who was muttering to herself.
"This journey will be hard, but we can do it. I know we can." Stone Storm meowed turning to stare at all of them.
"We're with you every step of the way." Fish Scar meowed proudly, puffing out his chest. The air slowly began to stop growing as the cats drew away from the mountains. The group all kept close to each other. Their eyes checking for anything that might jump out at them at any moment. Like a wolf would grab one of them and flee off. Or a hawk would swoop down and soar upward to wherever it resided and feed one of them to its chicks. But Stone Storm was determined. More determined than the stars themselves to not allow one of the groupmates to meet death. He would lay down his life. For he was their leader. And even though he felt fear, he felt like a mother would to her kits. Fierce and determined above all else to ensure their safety. Guaranteed to feed them. And he would do that without a shadow of a doubt.
