life doesn't revolve around love stories or family adventures; it's circumnavigated over ideas and what you leave behind for future generations.
min yoongi knows this for a fact. it's what he lives by. he's always on an existential precipice between life and death, creator versus creation, good over evil. he's always teetering and slipping off the edge just enough, but never all the way.
yoongi thinks that if he ever got the chance to start his life over, he probably wouldn't take it. why start over a life you never wanted in the first place? why relive all the mind-numbing occurrences again?

there's a new dream playing in his mind and it's a lot lighter than the one where he dies every night. he's in a car, driving down the highway while the sun breaches the horizon. it rises in the clouds and the sky fades into a pastel purple haze. his mom- not his mom, but the sentiment is there- turns around from her seat with a large sun hat covering her face from the rays of the sun coming in through the window. She smiles at him and turns the radio on.
it's a familiar song but he doesn't know where he's heard it from. yoongi watches the line of cars begin to pile up and their own car begins to stop. "[][][][][][], lets go!" his mom opens the door for him and his little boyish legs have trouble reaching the ground. after a rough jump from the seat and onto his hands, yoongi stands back up and follows his mom through a crowd of cars towards a little shop on the side of the road.
compared to the last dream, this one is much more intricate and yet, calming enough to relax in. yoongi doesn't have to fear for his life, and he has a feeling this dream will end in peaceful resolution. except the dream ends before he has to chance to get inside the warm shop by the sea.

the first time yoongi talks to hoseok, the angel is swinging over the edge of a cliff and swinging back onto the field of blue grass. he has two sets of wings on his back and they're dripping in a mixture of blue paints. his hair is thrown back as he laughs, cheeks rosy and eyes crinkling in mirth.
yoongi decides that this angel seems trustworthy. so he pads over to him barefoot, his (taehyung's) oudem-colored robes following quickly behind him. there are embroidered birds lining the several sleeves and they look like they're flying on the silk of his robes with every jostle. as soon as he reaches the tree that's holding the ropes to the swing, he sits down and continues to watch.
yoongi feels a calm settle over his chest as he watches, eyes darting back and forth while the angel joyously swings. they stay there, interlocked in with the atmosphere until the sun is dipping back below the horizon in a cesspool of warm purples, reds, and blues. hoseok takes a last swing over the edge, jumping off just last minute. yoongi rushes to the edge with a scream lumping in his throat.
"h-hey!" there's a rush of air blowing through his hair and robes before hoseok is back on his two feet in front of the male.
"did i scare you?" there's a lazy grin in his face as he bends down to pat yoongi's head. the man chokes, shying away from the hand as quickly as it had rested on his head in the first place. "ye-yeah you scared me! i thought you were dead or something, stupid!"
hoseok laughs at the wild expression on yoongi's face, wings folding together on his sides while taking the short walk towards the tree. as soon as he jumps down into a sitting position against the bark of the tree, yoongi's face turns into a frown, standing up to stand in front of him with a deeper frown than he had just mere seconds before.
"i get that you all have wings or some weird ass shit, but please be careful. what if they didn't unfold fast enough? you'd be hurt." he sits down with the angel, robe seeming to flutter down behind him elegantly. as if the birds on his robe could actually fly and touch ground with him.
"i'm hoseok and i'm a seraph!" he shook his wings behind him as if to indicate something. "a what now?"
hoseok frowns into the palm of his hand as he let his wings unfold behind him. despite only seeing four from the trunk of the tree, as hoseok unfolded his wings, there was a third set in between the top and bottom. he hid his face with the top pair, his hands with the middle pair and his feet with the last set of wings. a last ray of sunshine hit him as he curled himself into a ball of painted feathers and light.
"see? i'm a seraph. my job as an angel is to protect the lord and empower him." he unfurls the top set of wings and smiles just as bright as the ray of sun that was previously bouncing off his feathers. "however, there were too many seraphim serving for the lord so i was sent me off to work down here on earth. well, i mean, technically we aren't on earth in this land."
yoongi turns to him with wide eyes. "you mean to say i'm not on earth anymore?" hoseok quirks his head for a second and then gives a sharp nod. "yup. you're technically on a mini realm between earth and heaven. like purgatory but select souls are allowed past the gates."
yoongi stays still for a while, head lolling into his kneecaps. "soul? i'm not in my own body?" hoseok's eyes flash a look of pity and it's too easy to read his expressions. he's almost like a child. "no. taehyung found your body on a pier. your soul was wandering."
yoongi is too shocked at first to really understand what was happening. then there was rain falling in sharp pellets across his skin.
"i'm... dead?" the rain fell harder, slamming across his skin in red welts that felt like bullets. "i'm dead."
hoseok gathers him in his arms and coos him to sleep, a feathery blanket enveloping them as the rain swelters in drops with gelatinous properties.
yoongi is dead.
