A year ago everything was different, the people I knew, the things I did, the memories I had, and the people I loved, but a lot can change in a year. I realized that one year can do a lot to a person. My name is Payton, Payton Shamori and this is my story.
No, it's not a love story, it's simply just how one boy can change my entire life and flip it inside out and upside down in just one year.
You see, one year ago I was a junior, I played soccer and I was the star of the team, I had amazing friends but one stood out, John Thomas, John was my best friend and we did everything together, we had been friends for god knows how long. We grew up two blocks away from each other. John was my other side, he was like my brother and I loved him so very much. I first met John when I was 5 on the play ground down the street from my house, I was swinging on the swing set and John was sliding down the twisty slide when he fell, no one was around to help so I ran over to him and helped him up and put a bandage on him I always carried around with me. After I fixed him up we played and played and played, then the next day we did the same thing and so in and so forth, all because he fell down the twisty slide did we become the besets of friends.
In the start of middle school John and I were still best friends and everyone new that if you messed with me you messed with John and if you messed with John you messed with me, and god bless the person who messed with us. So to keep our friendship intact and to insure we had each other's back we created a set of rules. Rule #1. Never lie to one another, rule #2. Siblings are off limits (John created this one because I had a small thing for his older brother). Rule #3. Never keep secrets. Rule #4. Always have each others backs no matter what and lastly rule #5. No fighting over dumb things. These rules were very sacred to our friendship and you shouldn't dare break the rules.
In the 7th grade an older boy punched John in the face, so I punched the kid right back and helped John up and gave him a bandage for his bloody cheek. Funny how times roll back and replay. In the 8th grade John had joined the football team and I joined the soccer team, things took a turn for a bit because we were both so busy, but when we had the time we hung out at the park down the street from my house. We hung out when ever we could and when we did.... we were unstoppable, I felt at home with John and I alway loved hanging out with him.
