Life in The Underground Society

The Potatorians had just moved underground to escape the humans. Meanwhile the potatoes in South America were continuously being farmed and eaten. In this underground society the Potatorians decided to begin building infrastructure. However the development was slow due to the Potatorians' level of technology. Fast forward to about 5,000 years ago and the underground society had developed pretty well, there was now an entire kingdom underground. Of course life in this early society wasn't easy, there were many bad things such as very little sunlight making it only possible to grow the young by using fire as a source of light and heat, which required either wood, which was basically nonexistent at this point, or they could use coal which is what they did use. Another problem was finding resources, especially coal. All of them had to be mined and mining conditions were just fair at best and incredibly dangerous at worst, many Potatorians worked in mines and many also dies in those mines. This is basically how the Potatorian society stayed for a long time, slowly advancing over lots of time. Until that is, about 1,000 years ago.
