"Here he comes, Sydney." Tessa Moore said excitedly.

I paused from putting my books in my locker, "Seriously, Tes. That doesn't make it obvious that you like him." I replied with genuine sarcasim. But I did take a look at the boy walking down the hallway.

Luke Hayes, #1 on the most datable list. He was the hotshot of the school. The one that every girl wants, the one that might just top Naomi Santiago. Easy enough to classify, the football jock and a pop. Dad's rich and all that crap. If you were a girl and his friend, you are one lucky girl. But I guess it doesn't stay that way. EIther you are too head over heels and you just go all crazy.

"And why shouldn't I?" She retorted. "Shut up, he's coming over here."

"I'm not the one talking here." I reminded her. But she was already fixing her black hair. I sighed and continued minding my books.

I took at a glance at the approaching Luke. "Hey, Syd." He said.

I stood in silence. Instead, Tessa answered, "Hey, Luke."

It's not that I'm mad at the oh-so wanted boy at Westside. We used to be friends. He's mom and my mom are friends. That was the connection between us. Eveyone thought me lucky, until like we stopped talking to each. To be clear I stopped talking to him, because of all those looks I got. Apparently, it's a crime to casually talk to the It boy of Westside unless you're Naomi Santiago. She doesn't even talk to him normally, she acts like she owns him. But we were friends. He's not part of my group. He still remembers my name, for any consolation.

"She's still not talking to me," He asked Tessa. She giggled like a little girl. She apparently could not speak. I sighed. I'm not gonna say a single word.

Instead, I wrote it. I took a sheet of paper and a pen out of my notebook. I wrote, "We're not much of friends, are we, anymore? Look around and you'll understand." I handed him the paper.

He clearly did not get it. He spun around. But all the crazy looking girls had flown away. I sighed again and slammed my locker shut and began walking with Tessa in tow.

"Later, Sydney, I guess." He said. I just flashed my hand over my shoulder.

"BYE, Luuuuke," Tessa said, crazily.

I walked her over to our lunch table, "C'mon Tes, snap out of it."

"You guys saw him, again?" Brian Campbell asked as he sat down.

I nodded, "Not only that, she spoke a total of four words to him. He actually said something back to her."

"Wow," He replied, "Big step for her."

I bit into an apple. I was very much enjoying it until, "You have the audicity to write this note to MY Luke."

Naomi Santiago, ladies and gentlemen.  Brian looked above me, so I assumed she was there. "Yes, I did. He wasn't gonna leave. And exactly he's YOURS. As in an object. Anyways, Tessa, my spokesperson, froze up after he responded."

She was speechless, so she just stomped away.

"Nice of you to throw Tessa under the bus." Brian said.

"I know, right?" I replied. I began finishing my lunch. Until Tessa unfroze. "Damn, you scared me."

"Sydney, language." Laila Jackson said as she and Kira Grant dropped their lunch tray on our table. Then Laila's tone completely changed to one of a little girl. "No way. Tessa actually talked to Luke Hayes. And he responded?"

I nodded. "OMG, Tessa." Laila squealed.

"Nice going." Kira added. She wasn't as crazy as Tessa and Laila were about Luke, but her exact words were "wouldn't make a bad boyfriend".

After some more squealing, our sixth and seventh member of the gang joined us. Chase Griffins and Carter Jones. "So much high pitched squeals." Chase complained.

"Please don't get them started again." I begged.
