Prologue:

She walked through the darkened woods, only a faint blue glow was what she had to use to see everything around her. The skies were a deep purple, and the trees were taller than any ever seen. A faint green liquid was on them; a sticky, oozing substance that slowly made it's way to the ground as she passed. She heard a twig snap under her foot and stopped. Her eyes looked around. Nothing but faint silhouettes of trees. Her breathing accelerated, scared of what would happen next.

A racing heart could be heard from miles away, a predator could easily hear it. Adrenaline ran through her veins. Her foot moved one more step, though she didn't have the faintest clue to where she was going, she only knew she must move on in hopes of surviving.

A magic quality was in the air, a shimmer that lightly rings in her ears with every step. The green ooze retreated as she walked by.

All of a sudden, she noticed that when she stepped, something was being dragged behind her. A heavy sense of unease settled in the air. Her heart felt like it was in her throat when she looked down, afraid to see what it is. Her eyes widened when she saw the long purple dress she was in, dim in this light, but it's almost as if a light from ahead was shining down on her, enhancing it's color and beautiful design.

Long, curly brown hair flowed down to her ribcage, looking like it was done by the best stylist in the world. She finally felt pretty, even if this was a dream. She noticed a faint gold glitter under her, spread around the brown twigs lying underneath her bare feet.

She knows what will happen when gold glitter appears, this was a nightmare, a beautiful one.

"I see you." Came a deep voice, a male one. As much as the girl in the purple dress hated it, she loved the voice every time it came to visit her. It was her own personal addiction, a drug that she could take in her sleep. Her breathing and heart sped up more, which was almost impossible, at the sound of the lullaby he could sing just by talking.

Her gaze lifted from her feet, unable to see anything around her. White gloved hands reached up to her face, and a warmth settled over her, almost a fire that went from her cheeks down. Her eyes stared straight ahead, trying to see the mans face. The light was only on her.

I need to see him, she thought.

"I- I can't see you." she said, her voice shaking with the frustration of not being able to see the face that should be as beautiful as the voice. She needed to see him. A gloved thumb ran along the corner of her lips and up until it reached her temple, and then a hand tangled with her hair, leaving a trail of fire behind everywhere it touched. It was almost possessive.

"Because I don't want you to, love." The soothing voice answered. She closed her eyes, feeling the way his fingers caressed her head, making her feel like his touch was everywhere on her body. The hurt of his sentence had made a small impact on her heart. She wanted to see him, so much that a tear had escaped her eye and down her cheek. A white glove wiped it away. As much as his touch soothed her, there was always a part missing. An emptyness would settle around her every time he denied to show his face.

"Please don't cry, it will wake you." the enchanting voice said to her, making her feel relaxed yet angry at the same time. She opened her eyes, wanting to see something other than the hand, and hear something other than the voice.

Her heart ached with the need to embrace him, to comfort him and tell him that he had no reason to fear. He was beautiful either way. His touch and the voice was good enough for her. His face must be gorgeous as well.

"How can I not when you won't show yourself to me?" she asked him, her voice becoming higher. "This is a nightmare, I can't stand it! You visit me, lure me in with that captivating voice of yours, and then you leave me? Why?" she continued, almost feeling silly for staring at darkness and talking to someone who she couldn't see.

The passion she had felt with him had turned into heartache that she had felt so many times before. He had never given her the answer to the questions she needed to understand.

"Because it's a nightmare." he said. His voice never left that smooth tone, making the girl he was holding feel like he was a robot.

She stepped back from his hold, making her face feel cold without his touch. Tears were running down her cheeks, she was unable to stop them from coming. She couldn't believe this was happening again. Her heart had gone to a pace so slow that only a couple of beats were happening in five seconds. Is this what heartbreak felt like? She wondered.

"I am sorry, it is time for me to leave." said the alluring voice a couple of feet in front of her. Please don't go, she pleaded in her mind. I can't do this anymore. But he couldn't hear her. She turned around, walking through the woods, not caring if she would bump into a tree. A piercing noise so loud started to ring through her ears, a beeping that was deathly. Her alarm clock.

"I will see you soon." Was what she heard before waking up from the nightmare, the only evidence of the dream was the golden dust left in her hair the next morning.
